Preying on misunderstanding….

I can understand why the Democrats continue to regurgitate their lies about the tax system in America. Based on the emails and comments I received in response to my post a few days ago. It seems there are many out there who don’t understand how taxes are calculated. Let me try to explain it:

When you see a tax table that shows the rates as follows:

2004 Tax Rates
$0 - $7,000 10%
$7,001 - $28,400 15%
$28,401 - $68,800 25%
$68,801 - $143,500 28%
$143,501 - $311,950 33%
over $311,951 35%

This DOES NOT mean you take your income, figure out which bracket you’re in and then multiply your total income by the rate for that bracket. In fact, that method would mean your tax burden is actually higher than if you calculated the right way.

Here’s how you do it:

$0 - $7,000 10%
If your taxable income (total income less decuctions/exemptions) is $7,000 or less, your tax is calculated by multiplying your taxable income by the 10% rate. This is the only bracket where your tax is calculated by a single bracket percentage.

Example:
Taxpayer’s taxable income is $5,000 a year.
Multiply the whole $5,000 x 10% = $500 (total tax liability)

$7,001 - $28,400 15%
If your taxable income is $7,001 but not more than $28,400, you would calculate your first $7,000 of taxable income at 10% (see above). Then you would take the leftovers, the amount over $7,000 up to $28,400 and multiply just that portion by 15%.

Example:
Taxpayer’s taxable income is $25,000 a year.
Multiply the first $7,000 x 10% = $700
Multiply the next $18,000 (the amount over the already calculated $7,000) x 15% = $2,700
Then add the two together: $700 + $2,700 = $3,400 (total tax liability)

$28,401 - $68,800 25%
If your taxable income is $40,000, you follow the steps above, by calculating your first $7,000 at 10%, your next $21,400 at 15% and anything leftover at 25%.

$68,801 - $143,500 28%
If your taxable income is $80,000, you follow the steps above, by calculating your first $7,000 at 10%, your next $21,400 at 15%, your next $40,399 at 25% and anything leftover at 28%.

$143,501 - $311,950 33%
If your taxable income is $200,000, you follow the steps above, by calculating your first $7,000 at 10%, your next $21,400 at 15%, your next $40,399 at 25%, your next $74,699 at 28% and anything leftover at 33%.

over $311,951 35%
If your taxable income is $80,000, you follow the steps above, by calculating your first $7,000 at 10%, your next $21,400 at 15%, your next $40,399 at 25%, your next $74,699 at 28%, your next $168,449 at 33% and anything leftover at 35%.

Again, you DO NOT take your total income and multiply it by one rate. This is basic tax paying 101, but apparently there are many out there who still don’t get it. If you’re willing to educate yourself, it’s not that difficult to understand. If you’d prefer to buy the lies and remain uneducated, that’s your prerogative. Just don’t complain when you figure out you’ve been lied to because you refused to take a moment to learn the facts.

Damn those productive members of society…

The AP is “reporting” that the gap is widening between the Haves and the Have Nots.

Over two decades, the income gap has steadily increased between the richest Americans, who own homes and stocks and got big tax breaks, and those at the middle and bottom of the pay scale, whose paychecks buy less.

To back up their claim, they offer a nice little chart, too:

But here’s the issue I have. Based on this chart, those at the bottom are making $5.20 per hour. That’s the kind of wage one makes flipping burgers at McDonalds or mopping floors at WalMart. That’s a high school summer job or the job of someone starting a ground level. That’s where most of us get our start… and we certainly didn’t expect over a hundred grand for pushing shopping carts across a parking lot, did we? These kinds of statistics are deceptive, as they try to compare hourly jobs with the pay of professional careers. This allows them to paint “two Americas” in their attempt to guilt the successful into giving up what they have for those who are either unqualified to do equal work, or unmotivated to do so.

The reason the top income has doubled is that those at the top are generally more productive, more skilled or more highly trained in what they do. Therefore, it’s understandable that those who’ve worked their way to the top are motivated to keep growing and earning more. It’s also understandable that there will always be jobs that require little skill or motivation and as such, just won’t pay much. It’s even further understandable that while we all begin at the low end, not all of us have the motivation, or the skill and ability to do what it takes to advance. Those who remain behind aren’t motivated to increase their income and as such, one would expect it to remain stagnant.

Maybe the AP will find a sense of intellectual honesty and post a graph that includes skill, ability, education, work ethic, motivation, ingenuity and passion - the REAL factors behind why some people make a lot of money and some people don’t.

Preventing another September 11th!

John Kerry has taken a bold new stance on what he’d do as President in the War on Terror. His advisors, today have announced the “Kerry Recalendaring Initiative”.

Kerry says, “It’s up to us to face today’s challenges with an updated, state-of-the-art day-counting mechanism. For too long the Republicans have allowed this old calendar to exist for the benefit of big corporations and the wealthiest one percent. I’m here today to put an end to this burden on the poor and minorities. By removing just one day from the calendar, I’ve not only reduced the number of days that the Right Wing Conspiracy can discriminate, alienate and disenfranchise and destroy the poor, the elderly, the animals and the earth, but I’ve also insured that we’ll never again have another September 11th!

Now THAT’S progress.

The Democrats’ Deficit of Truth

I don’t know a nice way to say it, but the repeated attacks by the Left with respect to tax cuts and “the wealthiest 1 percent” are pure and utter bullshit. Take a look at this example, and feel free to check my math:

2001 Tax Rates
$0 - $27,050 15%
$27,051 $65,550 28%
$65,551 - $136,750 31%
$136,751 - $297,350 36%
over $297,351 39.6%

2003 Tax Rates
$0 - $7,000 10%
$7,001 - $28,400 15%
$28,401 - $68,800 25%
$68,801 - $143,500 28%
$143,501 - $311,950 33%
over $311,951 35%

Lets take a look at five taxpayers under both plans.

Taxpayer 1 makes $10,000 per year
Taxpayer 2 makes $40,000 per year
Taxpayer 3 makes $80,000 per year
Taxpayer 4 makes $200,000 per year
Taxpayer 5 makes $500,000 per year

Under the old rates, here is what each would pay in taxes:

Taxpayer 1 $1,500
Taxpayer 2 $7,683.22
Taxpayer 3 $19,316.41
Taxpayer 4 $59,678.55
Taxpayer 5 $174,973.55

Under the new rates, here is what each would pay in taxes:

Taxpayer 1 $1,149.85 - a reduction of 23.34%
Taxpayer 2 $6,809.60 - a reduction of 11.37%
Taxpayer 3 $17,145.32 - a reduction of 11.24%
Taxpayer 4 $53,569.99 - a reduction of 10.24%

Taxpayer 5 $156,330.64 - a reduction of 10.65%

So heres the truth about the figures above: The lower income earners got more of a reduction percentage-wise.

This is the basic truth. Sure it takes some work to figure it out (some of us more than others), work most Americans are unwilling or unable to do. But a simple look at the numbers shows the REAL TRUTH. The highest income earners pay the largest share of the tax burden, and in fact, got the smallest percentage tax cut benefit under the new tax rates implemented by the Bush administration.

And THATS what the CBO report really said today. As the Joint Economic Committee reports,

A new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report produced at the request of Congressional Democrats confirms that tax cuts since 2001 increased the share of federal income taxes paid by the highest earners while decreasing the tax share of lower- and middle-income groups. The CBO analysis, Effective Tax Rates Under Current Law, 2001 to 2014, shows that the income tax remains highly progressive, with the top 5 percent of earners paying more than half of all federal income taxes.

But the Democrats will continue to prey on the uninformed masses who neither have the ability nor the desire to dig into the numbers and look at reality. Today, John Kerry said, “Over the last four years, the burden of taxes has shifted from the wealthy to the middle class. The middle class is paying more taxes.

Mr. Kerry, me and my simple math just proved you to be a liar.

Order yours today!

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry criticized President Bush’s tax cuts on Thursday, arguing that they failed to create the jobs and spur the economic growth that the Republican predicted.

“Over the last four years, again and again, we were promised that tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals would create millions of new jobs,” Kerry said in a speech prepared for delivery at California State University Dominguez Hills. “Since Bush took office, 1.1 million jobs have been lost.

Let’s pretend we agree with John Kerry and completely ignore the impact 9/11 had on the job loss figures, and let’s forget that corporate scandals were actually prosectuted by a Bush Justice Department resulting in some losses and don’t mention the tech bubble that burst a year before Bush took office that started the economy into a recession before all of this.
Good, now that we’ve properly laid the foundation, let’s look at John Kerry’s accusations over the last 6 months regarding the “Bush job losses”….
  • On March 3, 2004, it was the economy has lost 2.9 million private sector jobs under Bush.
  • Then on March 26, 2004 , it was “Instead we have lost 2.2 million jobs.
  • And on August 6, 2004 it became “1.9 million have lost their jobs
  • Finally on August 12, 2004 it is “Since Bush took office, 1.1 million jobs have been lost
So as John Kerry continues to tell us the sky is falling, his speeches are being adapted to the current job figures and as Chris Berman would say he’s going back, back, back, back, back, back, back…..

That’s what we mean when we say Kerry is being pessimistic…. he’s taking a 1.8 million job growth figure and playing it backwards like some kind of bong-hazed teenager with a Metallica record - trying to get us to believe that despite the postive, forward-looking message that is obvious, there is really something sinister lurking in the murky static of playing the it in the opposite direction.

If only Uday could see you now…

Iraq shocks Portugal 4-2 in first Olympic match since ‘88

I think their win should be invalidated on the grounds that they’re only able to play because of an illegal war concocted on a ranch in Texas. If the U.S. would’ve just minded its own business, these guys could’ve been enjoying a relaxing afternoon in a barrel of hot oil or lounging in a nice spiked coffin.

Instead, look at the misery we’ve created for them:

It’s a damn shame….. oh, and congratulations!

Anybody But Bush…
August 11th, 2004 8:34 am

We’re learning of al-Qaeda’s next cowardly plot on innocent civilians. Apparently evidence has been found that they’re going to target anything that won’t fight back because they’re a bunch of worthless little sissy assholes.

But we’re also learning what they think about President Bush’s response to their fanaticism and how they view a potential John Kerry presidency. A U.S. intelligence official has reported:

“The goal of the next attack is twofold: to damage the U.S. economy and to undermine the U.S. election … the view of al Qaeda is ‘anybody but Bush.’

It’s amazing that America’s enemies have the same slogan as the Democrat party. Maybe Bruce Springsteen, Barbara Streisand and the Dixie Chicks can hold a private fundraiser for bin Laden himself.
If you don’t take this recent news about al-Qaeda’s view as evidence that bin Laden is threatened by a Bush presidency of action and their desire to have a President who wants a “more sensitive war on terror”, then you’re in for a rude awakening. Sure, another attack will happen and you’ll start asking “what did he know and when did he know it”. You’ll do everything in your power to blame Bush so your side can reclaim political power. You’ll ignore inaction throughout the 1990s and insist that a man who called his own battlefield brothers “war criminals” and who voted repeatedly against military legislation and who voted to send young men and women to war then turned around and voted not to fund them has the best ability to respond to a terrorist…. a terrorist who is now telling the world proudly that he prefers your man in office.
You just gotta ask yourself why bin Laden prefers “anybody but Bush”…. but I doubt you have the intellectual honesty to admit you really know the answer.

Kerry needs to lift his ban on using Brain Cells
In a radio address this weekend, John Kerry said, “We’re going to lift the ban on stem cell research.”

Just one problem, genius… there is no ban on stem cell research.

In 2001, President Bush made the decision to allow federal funding of the 60 existing stem cell lines in various research facilities — cell lines that have already been derived from human embryos. He stopped short of allowing federal funding for the creation of more lines.
In fact, President Bush endorsed increased funding for research on stem cells obtained from adults, umbilical cords, placentas and animals. Yet, John Kerry is promising to “lift the ban on stem cell research.”
Maybe it’s time John Kerry lifted his ban on using brain cells.

Watch it closely!
So Bush caved to the request to invite outside parties to monitor our election. And the initial group of Democrats who brought up the idea aren’t giving any credit to Bush at all (calling it “Colin Powell’s committment” - conveniently forgetting who he represents). It may be a good thing, however, considering our recent history with elections in this country. In case you’ve forgotten…

Not so long ago, there was a Presidential election that was decided by a razor-thin margin. The election saw 68 million votes cast and the winner decided by 113 thousand. That’s less than 2/10 of one percent. Subsequent investigations showed rampant voter fraud. In one state’s county, over 6,000 votes were cast, while the county had less than 5,000 registered voters. 75% of the votes cast went for one candidate. Another county showed that only 86 people had voted and the certified final tally was 147-24 for the same candidate who won the landslide in the other county. The state’s Election Board was coincidentally run by the party that won the election. A reporter also found a cemetary in one town that mirrored the voter registration rolls. The same reporter found that many “voters’ addresses” were just abandoned or even demolished buildings. Finally, after the inauguration of the President, the Department of Justice investigation was launched…. the head of the DOJ was none other than the President’s brother.

While you may be thinking this sounds like the 2000 election, it’s not. It was 1960 and the winner was Democrat John F. Kennedy.

Sounds like a lot of suspicious activity, doesn’t it? One state that gave JFK the victory was Illinois. The leader of the Democrat machine in Chicago at the time was Mayor Richard Daley. He insured JFK carried the state by a mere 9,000 votes…making it so close, it was hard to trace the fraud.

Ironically enough (or not?) Al Gore’s campaign manager in 2000 was Bill Daley, son of the late Richard Daley of the 1960 fame. Given that the very fraud we saw in 1960 reared it’s ugly head again in 2000 gives rise to speculation that 2000 was simply the attempted sequel to 1960. Thank God they didn’t get away with it.

Now a group of Democrats have requested international inspectors in to monitor our elections. I only hope this international group isn’t as corrupt as the U.N. (who, by the way, was the first choice of the Democrat group). If the OSCE is really a neutral party here to insure fairness in the election, the Democrats may have invited trouble upon themselves. It seems THEY are the ones who have trouble with fair elections. THEY are the ones who have to try and throw out military votes. THEY are the ones who tried in 2000 to narrow the entire national election down to a few hand-picked, Democrat-run and Democrat-friendly counties. THEY are the ones who don’t see a problem disenfanchising the entire nation so long as it gets them in power. THEY are the ones who position their opponent as a “divider” because it makes close elections more believable.

They’ve found an interesting political strategy - make it close and cheating can be accomplished. Let’s hope the invitation to the OSCE provides a chance for them to shoot themselves in the foot.

African-American

The term “African-American” seems to beautifully illustrate my point that Political Correctness is the polar opposite of Common Sense. I’ve seen examples where blacks in France were referred to as “African-Americans” by someone trying to be politically correct. Imagine that, referring to a person with a hyphenated term that describes two lands, neither of which is the homeland of the object of PC-idiocy.

In fact, the Democrat Party’s recent convention can help me illustrate my point just as much. Take a look at these two prime-time speakers at the DNC convention:

…and ask yourself which one of these is most likely to be called an “African-American” in America today.

If your mind has been warped by the PC stupidity, you probably said the one on the left, Al Sharpton, born and raised in New York. You’d probably never refer to the one on the right, Teresa Heinz Kerry, as an “African-American” woman, despite the fact she was born in Mozambique…. AFRICA.

Now ask yourself if that makes any damn sense at all.
