Was their headline a subconscious reminder of what a joke this guy was?

Kerry says Bush lied about the existence of WMDs in Iraq …
……………………………………………………….and Bush failed to secure the WMDs in Iraq

So John Kerry has come full circle again. Either that, or he’s forgotten that the centerpiece of his foreign policy plan is that “Bush lied about WMDs”. Of course, with John Kerry, one never knows if he’s coming or going on an issue.

Combine that wishy-washy campaign strategy with the new desperate campaign o’ the headlines and the American voting public is sure to feel like they’ve just finished ravaging an all-you-can-eat buffet and decided to relax on a non-stop tilt-a-whirl.

Hearing the news today of a possible security failure in Iraq, the Kerry camp didn’t waste any time jumping on the story and including it in the stump speech:

“George W. Bush, who talks tough, talks tough, and brags about making America safer has once again failed to deliver … After being warned about the danger of major stockpiles of explosives in Iraq this president failed to guard those stockpiles … Terrorists could use this material to kill our troops, our people, blow up airplanes and level buildings”

He said this in response to a report by the IAEA that nearly 400 tons of powerful explosives that could be used in conventional or nuclear missiles disappeared from an unguarded military installation in Iraq. (Notice the Kerry camp and MSM calls them “explosives” instead of actually using the term “WMD”)

Hint: They were weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION.

Of course, when you’re desperately moving to react to daily headlines in order to make voters forget you don’t have any real plans of your own, you run the risk of accidentally admitting issues you’ve previously centered your campaign around not acknowledging.

Senior Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart even admitted, “These explosives can be used to blow up airplanes, level buildings, attack our troops and detonate nuclear weapons…”

Hint: They were weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION.

The admission today totally undercuts the charges the Kerry camp (and the Left, in general) has leveled this past year.

March 17, 2004 - Kerry Campaign Press Release:

“We were misled about weapons of mass destruction.”

“Bush and Cheney … didnt tell us the truth about weapons of mass destruction”

October 8, 2004 - Second Presidential Debate:

“[T]he president didn’t find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq… The goal of the sanctions … was to remove the weapons of mass destruction … [Saddam Hussein] didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, Mr. President … Now, everyone in the world knows that there were no weapons of mass destruction.”

I can understand why the Kerry folks thought it would be beneficial to run a campaign on the MSM headlines - who would’ve thought the liberal press would let them down in their coverage of all the horrible, tragic, bad news created by the evil Bush administration?

So for those of you keeping score at home, here’s the foundation of John Kerry’s latest campaign accusations:

“The Bush administration lied to the American people about the existence of WMDs in Iraq … and the Bush administration failed to secure those WMDs that existed in Iraq.”

Make sense yet?

UPDATE: It appears that the story upon which John Kerry based his attack was actually wrong, anyway. It seems that an NBC journalist, embedded with the military back in April, 2003, verified that the weapons cache in question was already gone when U.S. military arrived. Of course, MSM doesn’t seem interested in the facts, they just want to keep trying to give John Kerry his needed campaign strategies - see tomorrow’s NY Times article that once again omits the fact that according to NBCNews, the HMX and RDX explosives were already missing when the American troops arrived. [Click for Video]

UPDATE 2: It now appears this was the attempted “October Surprise” coordinated by the Kerry Campaign, the DNC and the MSM. It’s a damn shame they’re so hungry for power.

Others Got it Covered: Have you considered the logistical nightmare it would be to “loot” 380 tons of high explosives? Captain Ed has. Sister Toldjah has a nice round up. NRO’s Kerry Spot has the whole scoop.

John Kerry is U.N.BELIEVABLE…

For a man who accuses his opponent of lying to the American people, John Kerry sure thinks it’s a winning strategy, himself. The Washington Times is reporting:

U.N. ambassadors from several nations are disputing assertions by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry that he met for hours with all members of the U.N. Security Council just a week before voting in October 2002 to authorize the use of force in Iraq.

So John Kerry didn’t actually meet the entire Security Council before making his very important vote in the Senate to authorize force against Iraq? Oh maybe he didn’t claim he met with ALL of them. This is just some Karl Rove conspiracy.
According to the transcript of the second debate, here’s what Kerry said:

I went to meet with the members of the Security Council in the week before we voted. I went to New York. I talked to all of them to find out how serious they were about really holding Saddam Hussein accountable.

You mean *gasp* he lied? Nah, this is just some Republicans taking a single statement of John Kerry’s completely out of context. It’s easy to see right through this conspiracy.
In December, 2003, John Kerry gave a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations called “Making America Secure Again: Setting the Right Course for Foreign Policy”:

Thanks to some friends in New York, I was invited to come up and meet with the Security Council in the week prior to the vote, and I wanted to do that, because I valued my vote. And I wanted to know what the real readiness and willingness of our partners was to take this seriously. So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.

But of the five ambassadors on the Security Council in 2002 who were reached directly [by the Washington Times] for comment, four said they had never met Mr. Kerry. The four also said that no one who worked for their countries’ U.N. missions had met with Mr. Kerry either.
The revelation that Kerry never met with the entire U.N. Security Council could be problematic for the Massachusetts senator, as it clashes with one of his central foreign-policy campaign themes honesty.

SO WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Well, as John Kerry says: “Truthfulness is the fundamental test of leadership.”
At least we all agree on that one.

Truth Laid Bear shows why this story is a major threat to the Kerry campaign.

London Paper Advocates Presidential Assassination…

Ranting through his disfigured dental work and apparently still upset about that whole Declaration of Independence thing, Charlie Brooker of The Guardian is openly wishing President George W. Bush would be assassinated.

On November 2, the entire civilised world will be praying, praying Bush loses. And Sod’s law dictates he’ll probably win, thereby disproving the existence of God once and for all. The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr - where are you now that we need you?

This pretty well sums up the position of the Left. Thanks for finally coming clean.

Woulda Shoulda Coulda Tora Bora…

If only John Kerry hadn’t waited until 10 days before the election to get his new hunting license and prove he’s a huntin’ man, he could’ve used that license to single-handedly fly to Tora Bora, smoke out bin Laden and before killing him with a technique he learned during his time as a Catholic alter boy or his 16 weeks in Vietnam, he could’ve cured blindness, AIDS and cancer and then sent Osama bin Laden to meet Allah personally. Of course, his statements today accusing the Bush administration of wrongly outsourcing the job of capturing bin Laden directly contradict his position in December, 2001, when the Tora Bora operation was occuring.

Here’s the transcript from Larry King Live, December 14, 2001:

CALLER: Hello. Yes, I would like to ask the panel why they don’t use napalm or flamethrowers on those tunnels and caves up there in Afghanistan?

KING: Senator Kerry?

CALLER: My golly, I think they could smoke him out. KING: Senator Kerry?

KERRY: Well, I think it depends on where you are tactically. They may well be doing that at some point in time. But for the moment, what we are doing, I think, is having its impact and it is the best way to protect our troops and sort of minimalize the proximity, if you will. I think we have been doing this pretty effectively and we should continue to do it that way.

But that’s a very different assessment from “John Kerry the campaigner“, who said:

KERRY: Unfortunately, he escaped in the mountains of Tora Bora. We had him surrounded. But we didn’t use American forces, the best trained in the world, to go kill him. The president relied on Afghan warlords and he outsourced that job too. That’s wrong.

So if you’re keeping score at home, John Kerry’s take on the Tora Bora offensive is that the offensive was occuring “pretty effectively and we should continue to do it that way” and the offensive was “wrong”.

It must suck to have to run as “the guy that’s not Bush.”

It’s like hiring Michael Jackson to be your babysitter…

Pennsylvannia Governor Ed Rendell has decided to forego any formalities in denying election fraud and simply hire the fox to guard the henhouse. He has appointed Mark Aronchick to head the state’s new election oversight efforts. Of course, Rendell officials downplayed Aronchick’s partisan past and played up his long resume of public service over two decades.

Among what Rendell and the Democrats think are irrelevant points on his resume:

Aronchick is a Vice-Chair of the Kerry Campaign. (Just like Ben Barnes)

Aronchick has raised $100,000 for John Kerry.

Aronchick served as chairman of the Pennsylvania legal steering committee for the Kerry/Edwards campaign until September 22, 2004.

Aronchick argued on behalf of Al Gore concerning alleged voter irregularities in Florida.

Aronchick ran the legal operation and served as policy chairman for Rendell’s successful gubernatorial campaign in 2002.

But to prove he’s not partisan, he did offer a few words on President Bush.

Aronchick said of President Bush, “I haven’t seen this kind of anger and disdain directed at a president since the worst days of Richard Nixon. Bush is playing to base fears. He has a contemptible pseudosincerity. Our anger is that fundamental. It is primal. These are evil forces we’re up against. I’m 54 years old, a mature person, and I mean what I’m saying - there’s a heart of darkness.”

I can’t wait to see who the alternates are. Calling Mr. Soros. Is there a Mr. Moore in the house? Paging Mr. Carville.

Maybe we can get the ACLU, NAACP and Moveon.org to do some manual recounts.

Why Running a Campaign on Headlines Makes You Look Stupid

The Kerry Campaign is so desperate to chip away at President Bush’s growing lead, they’ve resorted to jumping on the daily headlines to make their case. Not only does this show a complete lack of record to run on, it’s also making them look completely stupid in the process.

Senator John Kerry’s presidential campaign slammed Vice President Dick Cheney, a heart patient, over reports he had a flu shot, despite a shortage of the vaccine. … “Once again, the Bush administration proves that it is the ‘do as we say, not as we do’ White House,” the campaign said in a statement issued in Pittsburgh where Kerry was campaigning.

But the CDC guidelines and recommendations on who should get a flu shot include “persons aged 264 years with underlying chronic medical conditions.” That would include a heart patient like Cheney.

And despite the claim that the “Bush administration is being hypocritical” the fact is that President Bush didn’t get one. Neither did most of his Cabinet.

Kerry wanted to make this such an issue, his campaign even rattled off a few Republicans for added measure:

The [Kerry] campaign complained that Treasury Secretary John Snow (he’s 65) and Senate Majority leader Bill Frist (who got his before the CDC notice)also had jabs, despite Bush’s advice that the young and healthy did not need to get an injection.

But apparently, the Kerry camp isn’t worried about Democrats like Martin Frost, Tim Johnson, and Ted Kennedy - all of whom also got the shots.

Maybe the Kerry camp will move to the Weather section of tomorrow’s newspaper and start blaming the Bush administration for all the damn sunshine.

Peter Jennings is an Anti-American, Liberal Weenie
In a fit of uncontrollable honesty, Peter Jennings finally admitted he is not objective in his “journalism”. “I’m a little concerned about this notion everybody wants us to be objective,” Jennings said. He said that everyone — even journalists — “have points of view through which they filter their perception of the news.”
Super. He fits in well at ABC. Now let’s look at his “filter”.
Up until a year ago, Jennings was not an American citizen. When he finally decided to apply for citizenship, he thought it so important he kept his Canadian citizenship as well. Perhaps as a fallback position when he realizes he’s worn out his stay? And why was he so hesitant to actually become a U.S. citizen, despite working for one of our 3 major networks for 39 years? Well, he once described his mother, Elizabeth, as “pretty anti-American.” Fantastic. That’s a nice point of view through which to “filter one’s perception of the news.”
Gotta love it when MSM grants opportunities to poor anti-American, non-citizens to present the public with “unbiased journalism”.

Which Candidate Would The 9/11 Terrorists Have Supported?
It may not be a politically correct question, but it’s a politically significant one. You see, 8 of the 19 hijackers could have registered to vote in Virginia and Florida prior to September 11, 2001, despite the fact that they were admittedly not U.S. Citizens and were illegally in the country, having over-stayed their visas.

According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, the hijackers, had they survived their attempted tower-side-landings, could’ve waltzed into a voting booth in two weeks and cast a ballot. In fact, political correctness in our country has set the stage so that it would’ve actually been illegal in most states to even ask them for a photo ID or evidence of citizenship. Had any of them been asked to prove their identity or citizenship (remember, they were here illegally) there would have been lawsuits flying from the DNC, ACLU and other left-leaning activist groups crying racism and voter suppression.

Heck, according to the Democratic National Committee, you don’t even need real voter suppression or intimidation to actually allege it now.

Voter fraud has gotten worse over the years, thanks in no small part to the Democrats. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 aka “the Motor Voter Act” makes voter registration virtually automatic (simultaneous with motor vehicle driver’s license application or renewal) while removing the safeguards against fraud. Combine that with the move by Democrats in California to award driver’s licenses to illegal aliens and you essentially roll out the welcome mat for terrorists.

Voter fraud is easy to commit, and easy to stop. The 4 most common cheating methods:

1. Non-citizens or illegal aliens voting when legally ineligible to do so;

2. Eligible voters voting multiple times across multiple districts or impersonating others;

3. Registering nonexistent voters… or the dead;

4. Tampering with ballot boxes, destroying votes or inserting false votes after polling but before counting.

Simple reform could prevent most of this fraud. Requiring every voter to prove identity and citizenship. But Democrats will call you racist or accuse you of voter suppression or intimidation for raising such ideas of reform. The reason Democrats fight real reform and prefer “reform” that makes fraud easier is because voter fraud disproportionately favors Democrats and their allies on the political Left.

Democrats believe this, as evidenced by their get out the vote programs targeting illegal aliens, non-citizens, convicted felons and citizens who normally wouldn’t vote for lack of interest. Whenever real fraud is detected and reported, activists like Maria Cardona, spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee, say, “They have this program of ballot security and protection it’s just a veiled attempt at voter intimidation and vote suppression. It’s just a method to intimidate minority voters.”

Then they toss in a reference to Jim Crow and distribute a few fliers alleging Republican conspiracies to prevent minority voting and hire 10,000 lawyers to take the election out of the hands of voters and into the hands of willing activist judges.

As John O’Sullivan says, “Given that one of the most common techniques of voter fraud is to cast votes on behalf of the dead”, maybe I should have have titled this post: Which candidate will the Sept. 11 terrorists be voting for on Nov. 2?

I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count.

On March 11, 2004, terrorists killed 191 people in Spain in an attempt to affect the elections. The terorrists succeeded in scaring the voters into electing the challenger over the incumbent, an incumbent who had strongly supported the U.S. in Iraq. Despite a comfortable lead in the opinion polls just days before the election, Jose Maria Aznar, was ousted by the Socialist party government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero who quickly kept a campaign pledge to withdraw Spain’s 1,300-troop contingent from Iraq.

The terrorists showed their opposition to Aznar’s support in Iraq by bombing trains and killing many people. The Spanish voters returned the favor by electing a man who kept his word to pull his troops out of Iraq.

So the terrorists will be thankful to the Spanish people, right? The terrorists will move along to other countries now that they’ve succeeded in affecting a major country’s foreign policy against terror, right? The terrorists won’t harm the nice Spanish people again, right?

Wrong. Two days ago, police arrested seven suspected Islamic militants in raids across Spain to foil a planned bomb attack on the High Court, judicial sources said.

What? How could it be? The terrorists promised they’d be nice if we gave them what they asked for.

But the Spanish are now awaking to the realization that terorrists aren’t looking for friends, they’re looking for victims. The only thing the Spanish voters did in ousting Aznar was give the terrorists the breathing room and opportunity they needed to kill more Spanish people.

Vladimir Putin gets it. “International terrorism has as its goal to prevent the election of President Bush to a second term. If they achieve that goal, then that will give international terrorism a new impulse and extra power.”

So when you hear Kerry say that we’d be safer with him in office because he’d bring troops home, because he’d build coalitions with corrupt countries, and respond to terror while reversing the Bush Doctrine of pre-emption, just think of these three words:

Remember The Spanish

They gave in. And the terrorists are still plotting against them. Think you’d be safer with a guy who views terrorism as a nuisance like hookers and poker players? Think you’d be safer by giving the terrorists what they want - a Bush defeat - so you can pretend they’re going to leave us alone? Think again.
