Indoctrination 101

Remember when teachers just taught reading, writing and arithmetic?

Here’s an example of our wonderful education system…

…Ms. Parmar’s course, called Language Literacy in Secondary Education, which students said is required of all Brooklyn College education candidates who aspire to become secondary-school teachers. In the fall semester, Ms. Parmar was the only instructor who taught the course, according to students. The course, which instructs students on how to develop lesson plans that teach literacy, is built around themes of “social justice,” according to the syllabus, which was obtained by The New York Sun. One such theme is the idea that standard English is the language of oppressors while Ebonics, a term educators use to denote a dialect used by African-Americans, is the language of the oppressed.

No wonder our kids are falling behind on the basics. And what happens when students object to this racist teacher?

Classroom clashes between the assistant professor, Priya Parmar, and one outspoken student led a sympathetic colleague of the instructor to conduct an informal investigation of the dispositions of the student, who the colleague said exhibited “aggressive and bullying behavior toward his professor.” That student and another one were subsequently accused by the dean of the education school of plagiarism and were given lower grades as a result.

According to the article, one student failed to attribute a question in his lesson plan that was paraphrased from a website and the other student admitted that she submitted a definition from the online Encarta encyclopedia. One would think their use of the works to create lesson plans would constitute Fair Use.

Some may think this isn’t a big deal since it’s one teacher affecting a handful of students. But apparently the college (Brooklyn College’s School of Education ) thinks it’s worthwhile enough to create an official policy around it.

The School of Education at the CUNY campus initiated last fall a new method of judging teacher candidates based on their “dispositions,” a vogue in teacher training across the country that focuses on evaluating teachers’ values, apart from their classroom performance.

Critics of the assessment policy warned that aspiring teachers are being judged on how closely their political views are aligned with their instructor’s. Now administrators have the ability to boot anyone that doesn’t carry the racist, anti-American hatred in their soul from obtaining the credentials to teach students the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic.

Instead, as liberals prefer, teachers will be clones of Professor Priya Parmar, whose course-requirements include this preface:

“The need to maintain control over English by its native speakers has given birth to a policy of manipulative open-mindedness in which it is held that English belongs to all who use it provided that it is used correctly. This is the art of giving away the bride while insisting that she still belongs to you.” - South African scholar, Njabulo Ndebele

Keep in mind, Professor Parmar’s bio on CUNY’s website says her graduate courses are for:

    • Teach practicing elementary teachers presently certified to teach in New York City schools as well teaching Master level candidates in the New York City Teaching Fellows program in the area of language and literacy

    • Evaluate and assess student progress through debates, inquiry, presentations, and projects

    • Supervise and evaluate practicing elementary teachers in the New York City area schools

Why do elementary teachers need to be subject to this? How about if we evaluate whether they can teach reading, writing and math? Is that too hard to ask of our educational institutions? Instead, these racist liberals are turning our educational system into a joke.

Students also complained that Ms. Parmar dedicated a class period to the screening of an anti-Bush documentary by Michael Moore, “Fahrenheit 9/11,” a week before last November’s presidential election, and required students to attend the class even if they had already seen the film. Students said Ms. Parmar described “Fahrenheit 9/11″ as an important film to see before they voted in the election.

A senior fellow at the Lexington Institute in Virginia, Robert Holland, said: “The tight link between the accreditors and the multiculturalists indicates that social justice is being defined by those who despise the very ideal of an American common culture - considering it irredeemably racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.”

Exactly, and the “disposition policy” and teachers like Parmar ensure that the next generation of public school students will be educated solely by those teachers who have accepted the kind of extremist beliefs articulated by Professor Parmar.

Just how they want it. Oh the irony of them calling us Nazis.

Memorial Day, 2005

I have a friend who may not know or ever call my name,
A friend who may not visit, but I thank them just the same.
My friend is called the soldier who’s on duty day and night,
For me to pledge allegiance, they have fought and paid the price.

Where would we be today without the brave hearts who have served,
So we can wave “Old Glory”; so our voices can be heard.
And what would life be like today without the many soldiers,
Who walked into the jaws of death with guns upon their shoulders.

Life would not be as great today, with freedom in our halls,
And we’d live in oppression and great fear would grip us all.
So when you see a soldier you should thank your God above,
For here’s someone who represents the greatest gift of love.

And when you pledge allegiance, you should see a uniform,
Of those who walked through battlefields and weathered many storms.
We cannot take for granted what is takes to pay the price,
And be a U. S. Soldier who has made a sacrifice.

And whether they are fighting on the ground or in the air,
Or sailing on the ocean, we can rest assured they’re there.
Oh what a peace it is for me to hear the sound of jets,
Of flying Air Force pilots who have bravely passed the tests.

And what a happy feeling when a ship pulls into port,
With smiling Navy Sailors who were holding down the fort.
Then what a sense of pride I have to see in my hometown,
A soldier in the Army who is serving on the ground.

And then there are the soldiers who are training on a team,
They’re proud and they’re courageous, the United States Marines.
If you have fought a battle or have lived through several wars,
And freed a camp of prisoners, saved a life or fed the poor.

Or if you’ve volunteered to go to places I’ve not been,
I salute you, U. S. Soldier, National Guard and Veteran friend.
For you have made the difference in America today,
And when I see the stars and stripes, I see a soldiers face.

A fearless face of courage lined with dignity and truth,
A face with battle scars or an enlisted face of youth.
And whether you are young or old, still serving or retired,
I live my life in debt to you who’s walked through many fires.

I sleep in peace at night because you will defend our borders,
To go where you are needed, you will follow any orders.
So thank you, may God bless you and this country you defend,
This land is what it is because the soldier is my friend.

-Norma E. Wright

God Bless the U.S. Military - past and present. Thank you for all you do.

What Would MSM Investigate If They Weren’t Busy Making Shit Up?

Maybe a story like this?

The number two of the al-Qaeda network, Ayman al-Zawahiri, visited Iraq under a false name in September 1999 to take part in the ninth Popular Islamic Congress, former Iraqi premier Iyad Allawi has revealed to pan-Arab daily al-Hayat. In an interview, Allawi made public information discovered by the Iraqi secret service in the archives of the Saddam Hussein regime, which sheds light on the relationship between Saddam Hussein and the Islamic terrorist network. He also said that both al-Zawahiri and Jordanian militant al-Zarqawi probably entered Iraq in the same period.

Allawi’s remarks come after statements to al-Hayat by King Abdallah II of Jordan over Saddam’s refusal to hand over al-Zarqawi to the authorities in Amman. On this question Allawi said: ‘’The words of the Jordanian King are correct and important. We have proof of al-Zawahiri’s visit to Iraq, but we do not have the precise date or information on al-Zarqawi’s entry, though it is likely that he arrived around the same time.”

(Hat tip: Austin)

Maybe instead of trying to find someone to corroborate fake memos or praising “unnamed” sources that make up stories of Koran abuse, journalists would be well served to track down Faruq Hajizi.

In Allawi’s view, Saddam’s government “sponsored” the birth of al-Qaeda in Iraq, oordinating with other terrorist groups, both Arab and Muslim. “The Iraqi secret services had links to these groups through a person called Faruq Hajizi, later named Iraq’s ambassador to Turkey and arrested after the fall of Saddam’s regime as he tried to re-enter Iraq. Iraqi secret agents helped terrorists enter the country and directed them to the Ansar al-Islam camps in the Halbija area,” he said.

From the Washington Times:

[Allawi] added the Islamic conference was just a “cover for holding secret parallel meetings involving Islamists who have terrorist cells around the world.”

If this proves to be true, it’s gonna be huge.

Safire had other evidence of a link last year. A U.S. Federal Court found sufficient evidence of a link. ABCnews reported in 1998 on the link. Richard Clarke said the U.S. was “sure” of a link in 1998. And what about the memo?

Another day, another link. Will MSM ever follow up on this stuff? Now that’s a 60 Minutes story I’d be interested in.

Priscilla Owen Confirmed

Now was that vote really so hard? It’s a shame a handful of radical Senators had to waste 4 years and countless tax dollars throwing a temper tantrum to try to prevent a highly qualified judge from getting her proper vote on the Senate floor.

For those of you arguing this “tyranny of the majority” mantra, keep in mind that “we the people” still retain control over this whole process through our election system. If you don’t like the fact that Republicans control the Legislative and Executive branches, speak with your ballots. We Republicans have spoken in the last 3 national elections and now we have the majority. It’s not by some act of tyranny or abuse, it was through fair and proper elections. Republicans have won the majority fair and square and thus ought to enjoy the benefits of being in the majority pursuant to Constitutional allowances.

Republicans have won the right to advance a Republican agenda. Period. If you Democrats don’t like that, speak with your ballot. We did. We ended almost 50 years of Democrat rule and ought to be able to enjoy the benefits of winning the Presidency and a majority in both houses of Congress.

If you want a liberal agenda advanced, go out and elect liberal representatives into the majority. Don’t try changing the rules to claim the minority somehow should be on equal footing as the majority party. This isn’t some utopian society, there are winners and there are losers. It’s called reality.

Now it would be nice if the Republican leadership could show some backbone and get back to advancing the conservative agenda. Don’t let the tyranny of the minority and their rule-bending, tantrum-throwing, silly tactics make you forget you were elected for a reason - a majority of people support your agenda.

The Usual Suspects…

Looking at the Roll Call for the Cloture vote on Priscilla Owen, it’s not surprising to see which Senators wanted to keep obstructionism alive and abuse the system for the benefit of a small fringe group of radical Leftists:

Biden (D-DE)
Boxer (D-CA)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Corzine (D-NJ)
Dayton (D-MN)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Feingold (D-WI)
Jeffords (I-VT)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Levin (D-MI)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Murray (D-WA)
Reed (D-RI)
Sarbanes (D-MD)
Stabenow (D-MI)

The list includes a Senator who won his seat by disregarding the rule of law, another Senator who disenfranchised voters by switching parties after an election, a Senator who conspired with the enemy during wartime, and a Senator who has praised Osama bin Laden.

It’s not suprising they have no respect for the Constitution of the U.S.

Compromise?

While the Senators are patting themselves on the back for taking “extraordinary” measures to prevent “the showdown”, I can’t help but wonder what other professions allow an employee to shirk his duty only to be praised when he finally decides to do the tasks for which he was hired.

I think it’s outrageous to give the Democrat obstructionists kudos for giving up their temper tantrum and finally getting back to their elected-duties. It goes to show this filibuster mess was all a big joke anyway, because if the Democrats truly believed in their hearts that Owens, Brown and Pryor were unfit to be judges, they would’ve fought it until the end. But now the Democrats are admitting that they’re not bad enough to fight to the end to prevent confirmation.

In the end, Democrats retain their right to be obstructionists again when Bush nominates someone for the Supreme Court and Republicans maintain their threat of ending judicial filibusters. Nothing’s changed except Democrats have stop their whining for the moment and the Senators are getting back to casting votes…

Nothing extraordinary there. Instead of “congratulations” we ought to be saying “it’s about damn time.”

Howard Dean: The Republican Gift that Keeps on Givin’ - Part IV

Howard Dean to President Bush: “Leave bin Laden alone!” Remember when Democrats were all up in arms about then-Governor Bush mispronouncing or confusing the name of a foreign leader. In their world of one-sidedness, the Democrats aren’t rushing out to publicly correct the “idiot” Chairman of the DNC for is appearance on Meet the Press this weekend, in which he confused Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein… not once, but twice!

But the thing that really bothered me the most, which the 9-11 Commission said also wasn’t true, is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false. The 9-11 Commission, chaired by a Republican, said it was false.

and…

And the truth was Osama bin Laden was a very bad person who was doing terrible things, but that Iraq was never a threat to the United States. That was the truth.

But maybe there’s a clear explanation of these apparent slip-ups. Maybe Dean didn’t confuse the names and in fact truly believes Osama bin Laden, despite bin Laden’s own admission to the contrary, was not involved in terrorist attacks against the U.S.

Afterall, it was Howard Dean that said of bin Laden, while acknowleding that bin Laden had admitted to “killing 3,000 Americans as well as scores of men, women and children around the world”:

“I will have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials.”

So is Howard Dean just a bumbling moron, or is he a terrorist-sympathizing idiot?

Howard Dean on Saddam: “Clinton Lied or Governor Bush swayed Congress” In fine Howard Dean fashion, he also makes this statement:

MR. RUSSERT: But John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Joe Lieberman all said Saddam was a threat to the United States. That was the belief.

DR. DEAN: Because they were told that by the president of the United States…

Interesting. Considering the prominent Democrats all recited a litany of reasons that Saddam was a threat to the region, the U.S. and the world…. back in 1998! Either Howard Dean is making a freudian slip and accusing Bill Clinton of exaggerating the threat posed by Saddam, or he’s giving then-Governor Bush a heck of alot of credit in persuading members of the federal government, long before he was even a Presidential candidate.
If Dean is this big of an idiot in an off-year, I can’t wait for election season to roll back around. Heck, Dean and his mouth could probably even get Tom DeLay elected President. Keep up the good work, Mr. Chairman.

“Non-partisan” Prosecutor Chasing Delay Raises Money for Democrats…

From the Houston Barnicle:

Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle, who denies partisan motives for his investigation of a political group founded by Republican leader Tom DeLay, was the featured speaker last week at a Democratic fund-raiser where he spoke directly about the congressman. … Earle said Wednesday he knew the group that met in Dallas was raising money for Democrats…

And the Left still calls him “non-partisan“. Is anyone else not surprised?

Earle commented on the pending investigation witchhunt during the Democrat fundraiser saying, “This case is not just about Tom DeLay. If it isn’t this Tom DeLay, it’ll be another one, just like one bully replaces the one before. This is a structural problem involving the combination of money and power. Money brings power and power corrupts.” His speech helped raise $102,000 for Democrats.

Earle admits the pending investigation witchhunt isn’t about Tom Delay, but rather taking down Republicans and getting Democrats elected. Not only is it an abuse of prosecutorial ethics to call the target of a pending investigation witchhunt inflammatory names, but the appearance of political bias and impropriety seems to be reaffirmed by Earle’s participation in Democrat fundraising… especially during the pending investigation witchhunt.

Do you doubt for a second that if the political roles were reversed, we’d be seeing marches and mass protests on the Capitol steps?

Me neither.

The Real Story Behind the “Newsweek Riots”

The riots apparently resulting from the now-retracted, bogus Newsweek article aren’t the first riots we’ve seen by followers of the “religion of peace” in some overblown, murderous response to digs against the islamic religion.

Remember 2002 when Muslim groups declared the Miss Universe pageant immoral and rioted when Isioma Daniel of ThisDay newspaper said, “What would Muhammad think? In all honesty, he would probably have chosen a wife from among them.” More than 100 people died during the riots. There are other stories of sever overreaction by followers of the “religion of peace” as well.

Do Christians riot when “artists” paint pictures of the Virgin Mary covered in dung or submerge a crucifix in a bottle of urine?

Of course not. Which is why I think the real story behind the “Newsweek riots” should be focused on the over-reacting murderers than a media that’s already lost its credibility.
