Howard Dean to President Bush: “Leave bin Laden alone!” Remember when Democrats were all up in arms about then-Governor Bush mispronouncing or confusing the name of a foreign leader. In their world of one-sidedness, the Democrats aren’t rushing out to publicly correct the “idiot” Chairman of the DNC for is appearance on Meet the Press this weekend, in which he confused Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein… not once, but twice!
But the thing that really bothered me the most, which the 9-11 Commission said also wasn’t true, is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false. The 9-11 Commission, chaired by a Republican, said it was false.
And the truth was Osama bin Laden was a very bad person who was doing terrible things, but that Iraq was never a threat to the United States. That was the truth.
Afterall, it was Howard Dean that said of bin Laden, while acknowleding that bin Laden had admitted to “killing 3,000 Americans as well as scores of men, women and children around the world”:
“I will have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials.”
Howard Dean on Saddam: “Clinton Lied or Governor Bush swayed Congress” In fine Howard Dean fashion, he also makes this statement:
MR. RUSSERT: But John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Joe Lieberman all said Saddam was a threat to the United States. That was the belief.
DR. DEAN: Because they were told that by the president of the United States…
