After 5 years of banishment from the legal profession for lying under oath, Clinton’s suspension expires tomorrow. Clinton had agreed to the suspension on the condition that prosecutors not pursue criminal charges against him after he lied under oath.
Now let’s go back to Monday and look at part of the transcript of Al Gore’s speech that was supposedly attacking Bush:

Thomas Paine, whose pamphlet on “Common Sense” ignited the American Revolution, succinctly described America’s alternative. Here, he said, we intended to make certain that, in his phrase, “the law is king.”
Vigilant adherence to the rule of law actually strengthens our democracy, of course, and strengthens America.
In other words, “Welcome back, Bill.”
But perhaps we might be premature in welcoming Clinton back to the legal profession. Afterall, there’s this:
Like other bar applicants, he would also have to demonstrate good moral character.
