Clueless in Seattle

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), the woman who praised Osama bin Laden’s charity work, has refused to return money contributed by clients of Jack Abramoff because she claims returning to the money to those who donated it would “taint” the contributing tribes.

What an interesting take on the situation. If the contributions are so questionable that giving the money back would taint the donators, what does keeping the money mean for Murray and her campaign?

The state’s senior senator, a Seattle Democrat, said there was nothing wrong with accepting more than $40,000 in campaign donations from out-of-state tribes represented by the disgraced lobbyist

We’ll be sure to remember “there was nothing wrong” with it when your party makes it the central focus of the Fall campaigns.

The donations, from 1999 to 2005, placed Murray second among Senate Democrats and ninth overall in the Senate, according to records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, a Washington, D.C., organization that tracks money in politics.

Something else to keep in mind in the coming months…

I wonder if donating a clue to this woman would violate campaign finance reform.
