RIP: Rest in Politics
February 7th, 2006 11:57 pm

The Democrats have once again shown their shamelessness by turning a memorial service for the deceased into a foot-stompin’, rip-roarin’ campaign fiesta. And of course, they spared no expense on rhetoric and bullshit in the process.

Jimmy Carter (video) tried to tie the legacy of the Kings to the current Democrat-concocted scandal:

“It was difficult for them [the King family] then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps.”

Nevermind that those wiretaps were ordered by a Democrat, Bobby Kennedy.
Later, he said that Hurricane Katrina showed that all are not yet equal in America.
He’s right. Statistics show that about 64% of the residents living in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina were white, yet all the coverage and liberal mantra tries to paint a picture of a black-only catastrophe.

Then, Rev. Joseph Lowery tried his shot at politicizing the funeral (video):

“We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there.”

Don’t be so sure ’bout that, Rev.

I’m sure behind all the politicking and partisan jabs, the Democrats truly wanted to thank Mrs. King — not for her civil rights’ struggles — but for dying in an election year so they could kick off their campaign season… or as it’s become affectionately known: Wellstoning.
