This is one of those posts that make Democrats wish Al Gore had never invented the Internet. Not only is it easy for the average citizen to do research, but it’s hard for Democrats to bury past lies and bogus claims like they used to be able to.

As the latest employment numbers rolled out today, showing another 211,000 jobs were created while the unemployment rate remained at “virtual full employment”, I thought it was a good time to look back over all those threats and bogus claims Democrats have been making over the past few years about the Bush/Republican tax cuts.

Former Clinton Labor Secretary, Robert Reich - January, 2003

“His latest round of proposed tax cuts won’t create jobs and won’t grow the economy.”

Roger Hickey, The Nation - January, 2003

“The Bush economic proposals are a sham. They make the tax system more unfair, they starve the public sector of resources for needed public investment and they will not revive growth, spur corporate investment or create jobs.”

Since Reich and Hickey made these statements, over 4.7 million jobs have been created and the economy has expanded for 17 consecutive quarters.

Democrat Congresswoman, Julia Carson - May, 2003

“Republican Bill Won’t Create Jobs or Spur Recovery”

Askia Muhammad, White House Correspondent - May, 2003

Neither the dividend tax cut nor the Republican tax-cut “compromise,” agreed to on May 8, will create new jobs…”

The Dubya Report - May, 2003

“One More Time: Bush Tax Cut Won’t Create Jobs

Democrat Congresswoman & House Permanent Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi - May, 2003

“So I am sad to say despite the lessons we learned two years ago — that a huge tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefits the wealthy do not create jobs and grow the economy – President Bush and Congressional Republicans are trying more of the same.”

Since all of these claims were made in May, 2003, the economy has seen the creation of 5,114,000 jobs. With those kinds of numbers, Pelosi’s warning of Republicans “trying more of the same” takes on a whole new meaning… and looks more positive than I imagine she intended at the time.

AFSCME the nation’s largest public service employees union (AFL-CIO) - September/October, 2003

“3 Million and Counting - That’s the number of jobs lost since Bush took office — but he cares only about tax cuts for the rich. And those cuts won’t resurrect the 3 million jobs or produce new ones.”

But in fact, it did resurrect 3 million jobs and produced new ones… specifically, 2,169,000 new ones.

In addition, since this claim was made, the U.S. economy has enjoyed 31 months of uninterrupted job growth.

Democrat Senator and 2004 Presidential Nominee, John Kerry - April, 2004

“For three years, President Bush’s only answer on jobs has been tax cuts for Americans who are already earning over $200,000 a year, I believe we need a new direction.”

A new direction? We’ve seen 4,145,000 new jobs since John Kerry made this statement, so I wonder what “new direction” he would’ve taken us. Hmmm… millions of new jobs created or Kerry’s “new direction”… what a choice.

Democrat Congresswoman & House Permanent Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi - May, 2004

“when it comes to creating jobs, President Bush does not have a clue. No matter how many times he repeats it, his tax cuts just do not create jobs for working families.”

So I guess the 3,893,000 jobs created since Pelosi spouted this nonsense were for non-working families?

Democrat Presidential Candidate, Dennis Kucinich

“Making permanent the tax cuts that were temporary, the ones that were supposed to give the economy a quick boost, would cost us another $1 trillion, but it won’t create jobs.”

Dennis who?

Democrat Socialist Senator and likely 2008 Presidential Candidate, Hillary Clinton - June, 2004

“Hillary Clinton told hundreds of party faithful to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed under President Bush if Democrats take control in Washington next year. “Many of you are well enough off that … the tax cuts may have helped you, we’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Since Hillary made this now famous statement publicly revealing her true socialist side, 3,626,000 jobs have been created. Not only did she promise to take things away from people for the “common good” but she promised to cut short Bush’s tax cuts that helped spur the economy to unprecedented growth:

1. Real GDP increased 3.5 percent in 2005. The economy has been growing for 17 straight quarters, and the composite index of leading indicators has risen the past 6 months, indicating continued growth.

2. Consumer Confidence rose to 107.2 in March - the highest level in nearly four years.

3. Inflation remains contained.

4. Over the past year, employment has increased in 48 states.

5. Real disposable incomes have risen 2.2 percent over the past 12 months.

6. Real household net worth is at an all-time high of $52.1 trillion, and the median net worth of American households rose 1.5 percent between 2001 and 2004.

7. Real consumer spending has increased 3.2 percent over the past year, and nominal retail sales are up 6.7 percent over the past 12 months.

8. College Graduates face the best job market in five years.

9. Manufacturing activity grew for the 34th consecutive month in March.

10. Non-manufacturing business activity grew for the 36th consecutive month in March.

Remember this the next time a Democrat Socialist tells you how bad the Republican policies are and asks you to give it up, change direction or pay more taxes to help “the common good”.
