Today, Continental Express Flight 3161 blew two rear tires on takeoff from Houston Bush Intercontinental to Minneapolis. The pilot notified air traffic control and did a “fly by” so they could verify the tires had blown.
Instead of flying on to the destination, the pilot and ATC decided to just circle and burn off fuel here before attempting an emergency landing back at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental. .
The plane eventually landed safely and it appears there were no injuries. But the incident did make for an interesting design on the flight tracker map:
