Hadji Girl
June 14th, 2006 6:28 am

A video has surfaced on the Internet showing what looks like a U.S. soldier singing a song to an unseen audience about an insurgent attack and the bloody aftermatch. CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), a group that allegedly was founded by Hamas terror supporters, has issued a release calling for an investigation and punishment for the people involved in making the Hadji Girl video (hat tip: Gateway Pundit).

Of course, why should we be surprised that they’re claiming outrage? These are the same people that riot over cartoons… cartoons! And equally unsurprising is how quick the MSM is to pick up the bogus allegations in CAIR’s press release and run them as actual news.

From the AP:

A music video posted to the Internet, telling a tale about a U.S. Marine killing members of an Iraqi family, is being condemned by an Islamic group and investigated by the Marine Corps.

I’ve posted my transcription of the lyrics below. Of course, the picture painted by CAIR and the AP is that it’s a song about a soldier killing innocent Iraqis. In fact, it’s a parody of a U.S. soldier being ambushed by insurgents, and the only people in the song killing innocent people are the “Iraqi family” themselves.

The AP continues:

The lyrics talk about the Marine gunning down members of an Iraqi woman’s family after they confront him with automatic weapons.

Apparently a song about self-defense is unsettling to Allah. Notice there’s no outrage when Iraqi insurgents actually brandish automatic weapons or actually kill innocent women and children. No the “outrage” comes when an alleged soldier sings a parody about it.

And then comes the MSM template being used in all of the pile-on stories:

Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said that in light of recent allegations of atrocities committed by Marines in Haditha and other towns in Iraq, the video should be investigated by the Pentagon and Congress.

How about, for a change, we turn this around and say the Marine wrote this song “in light of recent ACTUAL atrocities committed by insurgents and terrorists in Iraq and around the world”? Wouldn’t be as politically correct, but would sure as hell be more accurate.

More slant from AP:

The singer is shown playing a guitar and singing about meeting an Iraqi woman and then being confronted by her brother and father, who have guns.

The AP wants you to believe this was just a Marine who met a sweet, young girl and went back to her house to meet her loving father and brother… then massacred them all in cold blood. Yeah, just like the 9/11 hijackers were business travelers who wanted to fly themselves and were confronted with buildings.

The BBC “reports”:

The lyrics caught on video refer to the shooting of Iraqi civilians, especially children.

They intentionally mislead readers into thinking this was a story of a Marine who casually shot up innocent civilians. What they choose to ignore is that the shooting of Iraqi civilians (including the children) is done by Iraqi terrorists. The singer is singing about Iraqi insurgents killing their own people, their own family members. But the BBC doesn’t want you to know that, because it doesn’t advance their anti-U.S. reporting.

They continue:

Dressed in a green T-shirt and military style trousers and boots, a man sings: “I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me.

“As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally.”

Again, they conveniently leave out the context of these lines, which show that it’s the Iraqi family that shoots the child… while trying to ambush a U.S. soldier. Sure the laughing comment may be inappropriate, but that’s hardly the case CAIR and their MSM allies are making.

LGF adds more to the story of the MSM co-opting CAIR’s press release and calling it “news”. They also have the video in question, as does Michelle.

Warning: if you watch the video, you will find yourself singing “durka durka, mohammed jihad” all day.

So here are the lyrics. Tell me what you think. Is it a song about a Marine going on a killing spree among innocent civilians, or is it the parody of a failed terrorist ambush?

I was out in the sands of Iraq,
and we were under attack,
and well, I didn’t know where to go.

Then the first thing that I could see,
Was everybody’s favorite Burger King,
So I threw open the door and I hit the floor.

Then suddenly to my surprise,
I looked up and I saw her eyes,
and I knew it was love at first site.

And she said, “Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad”,
“Sherpa, Sherpa, Bakala”,
Hadji girl, I can’t understand what you say.

And she said, “Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad”,
Sherpa, Sherpa, Bakala”,
Hadji girl, I love you anyway.

Then she said she wanted me to see,
She wanted me to go meet her family,
But I, well I couldn’t figure out how to say no.

Because I don’t speak Arabic, so…
She took me down an old dirt trail,
And she pulled up to a side shanty.

And she threw open the door and I hit the floor,
Because her brother and her father shouted,
“Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad”
“Sherpa, Sherpa Bakala”

They pulled out their AKs so I could see,
And they said, “Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad”
Sherpa, Sherpa Bakala”

So I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me
and as the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes,
and then I laughed maniacally.

And then I hid behind the TV,
And I locked and loaded my M-16
and I blew those little fuckers to eternity,

and I said, “Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad
Sherpa, Sherpa Bakala
Shoulda known they were fucking with the Marines”.

Hoorah!

Update: The marine involved has apologized. Since when did warfare include the requirement that a soldier apologize to the enemy for offending them? Political correctness will be the end of civilization… wrapped smugly in the loving arms of liberalism and radical islam.

Update 2: The Marine in the video is Cpl. Joshua Belile (hat tip: BlogsofWar). They also link to Joshua’s band’s website. And of course they sum this whole thing up the best:

Insensitive? Marines insensitive? God I hope so. We need them to kick ass and follow orders but we don’t need them to be particularly sensitive. A sensitive Marine Corps will be the death of this country.

Others:
StopTheACLU has a roundup.
Misha says, “If this song doesn’t end up on Billboard’s Top 50, then the terrorists will have already won.”
BlackFive calls it high-freakin-larious..

The song was “inappropriate and contrary to the high standards expected of all Marines,'’ Fazekas said. He said Marine officers are looking into the matter.

How dare the America hating Marines look into this matter. The Mariines are so quick to condemn this behaviour before knowing all the facts.

I believe that anyone who doesn’t find this HILARIOUS, obviously hates America…

I mean what is more american the laughing at the death of a child? Seriously?

  3. Maybe laughing at “innocent” Iraqis who thrive on killing their own in an attempt to ambush a brave soldier helping spread freedom where it’s been lacking for 4 decades.

By the way, how do we know it was a child? For all we know the Hadji girl could be in her 40s and her “little sister” could be 25.

So freedom is what you call what Iraq has now huh? Interesting, freedom to be kidnapped, ethnically cleansed, freedom from the bondage of life. The latest lame excuse for invading Iraq, spreading freedom, is not holding up any better that the original lame excuses.

  6. And you seem to fail to understand the difference between a government run by Saddam and a coalition government freely elected by citizens.

The original reason for going in was to prevent Saddam from continuing to develop and use WMDs. I would say that our actions have insured that outcome.

  7. So you concede the point that the song is about laughing at the death of a child. At least we have that settled.

Actually I do see a difference between the two. One was a secular government where muslim extremists were killed or too afraid to enter the country. and the other is a country that is now a terrorist trainging camp that is going to be Iran’s brother in arms. Brilliant!

Regarding continue to use WMD’s… Can’t use what the U.N. was so successful of disarming you of. Regarding develope, uh, there was no developement. Or maybe you missed kayes report.

I still call my wife “girl” from time to time and she is 55 years old. I must be illiterate and didn’t know it. Stuff it, Thomas, your argument is hallow; as in there is no substance… colloquialism has allowed it all to leak out.

Why does Saddam’s Iraq get a pass with literally tons of WMD evidence against it and Karl Rove is guilty with no credible evidence against him??? There’s an irony in there somewhere; I’m just too illiterate to figure it out.

  21. Explain exactly how it is a parody. A composition that imitates somebody’s style in a humorous way.

Parody: noun - a literary or musical work in which the style of an author or work is closely imitated for comic effect or in ridicule.

Have you ever seen the movie Team America World Police? Not a great movie, but the “durka durka” line comes from that. It’s dark humor.

Whom exactly are thy making fun of, dead civilians or the marines that kill them.

You’re buying into CAIR’s lies about the song. Have you even listened to it or read the lyrics? The dead “civlians” were insurgents trying to ambush a soldier. The real “civilians” were killed by those insurgents.

Great, let’s fabricate a story, then we can build every other story, relevant or not, around the context of the story we’ve made up. Fantastic. So how long have you been beating your wife?

  23. Thomas, were you ever young and do something that wasn’t real smart, say in between patrols in a combat zone where people daily tried to kill you? You know in one of those rare moments when you and your buddies were actually able to relax and let your hair down and just cut loose? We ask these young people to don weapons and risk life to defend freedom and then we crucify them when they make untoward mistakes. Offending a few insensible Muslims does not rate as even mentionable in my book. So what? Get over it, a kid screwed up and someone’s sensibilities were tread upon.

Do you not understand that these people (the radical Islamicofascists) will use a child or girl or woman to thier purpose in the blink of an eye? They do not have any regard for life of others no matter the age or sex. Are we to be concerned that one of our young soldiers offended these people? I’m incensed that you would be so PC that you would side with the Islamofascists. Get a life!

If you are a peer of this soldier, ( by peer I mean a US Combat veteran) and you are offended by a soldier having some fun on deployment then shoot him an email and let him know about it. If you aren’t a combat vet and you don’t care enough to put yourself in harm’s way for your country, then move to Iran, Iraq, Saudi, Palestine or any other place where you might be able to learn to appreciate the people who keep your cowardly liberal asses safe!

To get away from the “EYE FOR AN EYE” outlook on life The fact that those if they were infact soldiers found that humorous is beyond me.
