MSM is Fast Becoming Gomer Pyle…
June 26th, 2006 9:14 am

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise….

Two months ago, it was:

March gain of 13.8% the biggest in 13 years, showing surprising strength in housing market

One month ago, it was:

Sales of New Homes Jump Unexpectedly

And today:

Sales of new homes increase unexpectedly

How many consecutive months does the same thing have to occur before they stop being surprised? They just absolutely refuse to believe that the economy might actually be humming along with some strength. They’ve convinced themselves that the economy is terrible and they’ve been working hard to find evidence to support their position. So inevitably they’re surprised when the evidence appears to the contrary.

What’s next? Daily headlines declaring MSM’s surprise that the sun rose today… again?

  1. Isn’t this the very definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result?

I liked the headlines last week aboout global warming, too. The timeframe kept expanding.
Hottest it’s been in 200 years!
Hottest it’s been in 400 years!
Hottest it’s been in 1000 years!
    Finally, they settled for -
Hottest it’s been in 2000 years!

I’m sure glad they stopped as I couldn’t take the heat.

  2. What a great — and accurate — observation. And taking-off
on Indigo Red’s remark, it’s part of the longstanding pattern by media and political (perhaps redundant?) sources of a certain persuasion where the hope is that if you chant something frequently enough you can not only “wish” it true but also convince the millions of economic and politically-ignorant lemmings in this nation that it is FACT — even when clearly not.

  3. Great observation.

The MSM knows that perception is the name of the game.

  4. The MSM is beginning to remind me of the basement dwelling Kos/Du LLL trolls I find on alot of websites.

The increasing screech factor issuing forth from both of them is due to the fact that they are both intellectually immature and the adults are not buying into their shinola. They are not getting their way so like all five ear old spoiled brats they resort to throwing their temper tantrums in hopes of people letting them have their way just in order to shut them up. Too bad for them that tactic no longer works-what it is buying them is a good spanking.

  5. […] First, they continued to show surprise that the economy wasn’t really underperforming like they kept claiming it was. […]
