Democrats around the country are applauding the Fulton County (GA) Superior Court ruling that blocks Georgia’s voter ID law.

This leaves the door wide open for Democrats to continue to perpetrate fraud on the electoral system.

By successfully defeating a bill that would require legitimate voters actually show proof of identification, they can continue to receive votes from illegal aliens, dead people and people voting multiple times.

Many groups on the Left have organized against this bill, claiming that proof of identification to vote is harmful to the poor, the elderly and minorities.

During a day of testimony before Murphy issued his decision, American Civil Liberties Union attorney Neil Bradley argued that making voters go to county registrar’s offices to get a required ID was an inconvenience that did nothing to address fraud at the ballot box.

What he meant to say was it did everything to address fraud at the ballot box and thus was bad for liberals.

Let’s look at the lies advanced by the ACLU with respect to the bill:

1. [The bill] violates the Fourteenth Amendment because it treats voters unequally

Really? How does requiring every voter to present proof of identification treat voters unequally?

2. [The bill] violates the Twenty-Fourth Amendment because it constitutes a poll tax on the right to vote

A poll tax? According to the Georgia Department of Driver Services website:

Georgia law now provides for the issuance of a free identification card to citizens over age eighteen (18) who are registered voters. In order to be eligible for a free identification card, the voter must have no acceptable proof of identity to use when voting. These free identification cards are issued at all Customer Service Centers and are valid for ten (10) years.
…
Georgia Identification Cards are $20.00 for a five year or $35.00 for a ten year card. Those that are indigent may request a free ID Card for voting purposes otherwise, the cost is $5.00.

How does a free identification card constitute a poll tax?

Maybe it’s because the poor, elderly and minorities who haven’t taken driver’s ed are unable to find their way down to a DMV office to get their ID? Nope, Georgia has taken care of that, too:

The Department of Driver Services (DDS) will soon begin two initiatives in efforts to provide Georgia Identification Cards and Georgia Identification Cards for Voting Purposes in an efficient and convenient manner.

The mobile licensing GLOW (Georgia Licensing On Wheels) bus will begin its’ statewide travel beginning Tuesday, September 6th in Augusta, Richmond County. The bus will be located at the Augusta Richmond Civic Center, 601 7th Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30901, on Tuesday September 6 and Wednesday September 7th from 9:00am until 3:00pm. The bus has the capability to issue 200 identification cards each day. The bus will not be providing any other licensing services other than Georgia Identification Cards.

3. [The bill] violates the 1965 Voting Rights Act because it results in the denial of voting rights to African American and Latino voters

This coming from the political Left who capitalizes on the fact that even death doesn’t deny many the right to vote. This line is pure pandering and nothing else.

4. [The bill] violates the Georgia Constitution because it creates an entirely new set of voting qualifications beyond those specified in the state constitution

Proving your identification is not a “new qualification”. It is simply proof OF qualification. The Georgia Constitution says:

Every person who is a citizen of the United States and a resident of Georgia as defined by law, who is at least 18 years of age and not disenfranchised by this article, and who meets minimum residency requirements as provided by law shall be entitled to vote at any election by the people.

5. [The bill] violates the 1964 Civil Rights Act because it applies different standards for voters who vote in person compared to those who vote by absentee ballot and disqualifies voters based solely on whether they have a government-issued photo ID, even if they are personally known to election officials, or their signatures match the one on their official voter registration card.

Another spurious complaint. This argument would then outlaw absentee voting altogether as the act of having to put a ballot in an envelope, then put a stamp on the envelope (which costs money, by the way), then put the envelope in a mailbox are all “different standards” that apply to absentee voters that don’t apply to in-person voters.

There is no valid reason to oppose the voter ID requirement unless you’re counting on illegitimate, illegal or improper votes. The excuses used by the Left are completely baseless. It doesn’t prevent the poor from voting because the state offers free IDs. It doesn’t prevent those unable to travel from voting because the state is sending a mobile office around the state to reach those who can’t travel. It doesn’t prevent blacks or mexicans to vote… and I’m still trying to figure out what the hell this claim is even based upon to begin with, other than pure pandering to the Democrat base.

Bottom line, the Left doesn’t want voters to have to prove their identification because such a requirement prevents them from perpetrating fraud on the system. And that fraud is the only chance they’ve got at winning.

1. This Dem voter fraud has gone on forever it seems, been brought to everyone’s attention at every election, and yet it doesn’t seem to reasonate as a cold hard fact. What’s the average IQ (90?) and reading level (6th grade) in this country? Stuck on stupid literally must explain this–I can’t believe how dumb the average American is.
