Fox News is not popular because it’s conservative (it’s not, it’s balanced, but compared to other MSM outlets “balanced” appears to be “conservative”), it’s popular because it’s accurate. Here’s a clear example… compare a Fox report to a report from the BBC relating to Israel and Hezbollah.

1. What, you would expect the British Bitching Center to be fair and balanced in their reporting? That doesn’t fit in their Chamberlain agenda.

2. Actually they both seemed fairly even handed. They were, however, discussing different aspect of the situation. the BBC reporter pointed out that there was a Hezbollah site, offices, there and that the Isrealis believed them to be where attacks were coordinated and knowing how superior Mossad’s intel tends to be when compared to the CIA’s and SIS’s they were probably right. He also pointed out that the Isrealis warned the civilians to get out. Further to this he explained that Isreal has to demonstrate that they are acting in proportion to the threat they face.

   He did not state that Isreal what Isreal was/is doing is wrong nor did he state that Hezbollah are inocents in all this, he merely stated the facts.
   He also did not talk overly much about the misile strikes into isreal, but then that was not what he was repoting on.

   The Fox reporter did something similar. She explained some of the background and how Hezbollah would have a tactical advantage in a ground war. She also pointed out that hezbollah are a part of the local population.

   What she didn’t point out is that through various errors on the part of the Isrealis, destroying a UN compound after they were repeatedly warned that they were firing too closely to it for 10 hours, attacking several convoys of the civilians they had warned out of towns, that they are in advertantly increasing suport for Hezbollah, but again that was not what she was repoting on.

   Both reported relatively evenly on the subject of their report.

   The BBC, and ITN the other main news agency in the UK, have covered the war/situation, from both the Isreali and Lebanese perspective. Showing only stories/a story focusing on one perspective and then accusing the news agency of bias is dishonest. I would not assume, from seeing the one clip of Fox’s reporting that they are biased in favour of the Isrealis and believe that anything the Isrealis do is justified, even though I heard no critisism of any of their actions.
