In case you missed it, the Senate passed a resolution on a 94-3 vote to provide “$1,829,100,000 for the Army National Guard for the construction of 370 miles of triple-layered fencing, and 461 miles of vehicle barriers along the southwest border.”
The bill was passed last Wednesday. Apparently nobody has notified the major networks yet. But here are some media outlets concerned enough with our border security that they’ve decided to cover the passage of the bill:
But for CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN, this just wasn’t newsworthy. They know this is one area where Bush supporters have disagreed with the President and they realize that approval of this funding is a big win. Removing an issue that has caused disagreement between Bush and his base only acts to strengthen his numbers. And they certainly can’t allow that to happen on their watch!
