Its amazing how the American media works. We have lost fifteen more American service people over the last couple days, and what is getting attention? Its just another sex scandal. And it wasn't even real sex.

Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley's instant message records indicate he is a dude who gets off on fantasy cyber sex with teenaged boys. I believe this is the first virtual sex scandal in Washington DC political history.

Back here in the real world, American men and women are killed, maimed and scarred, both physically and emotionally every day. War is hell. Finally, the mainstream media is beginning to support our troops by speaking the truth about their sacrifices. more

"It amazes me that when confronted with wrong doing in your ranks, your only defense is past descretions by Democrats."

Are you kidding? Did you even bother to read my post? I said he and anyone that knew about his deviant ways should be out on their asses. In a heartbeat. No defense to the indefensible. I was questioning whether Democrats really wanted to run this as their campaign strategy given their complete lack of credibility on the subject. It would be nice if Democrats had an actual plan or policy to run on, but as usual, they don't. So we're left with these dumbass scandals.

"The republicans had every chance to lauch this earlier and circumvent it. They chose not to only because of upcoming elections and you know it."

Yeah, so their strategy was to sit on it until a month before the election. Man, you're a genius.

"I am an independent, I have voted for both parties."

Yeah, you really sound independent. Anti-war, using DNC talking points about conservative commentators (and conveniently not mentioning leftwing mouthpieces) and demanding the overturning of laws for sex offenders (sorry, "ex" is a misnomer... you're either a sex offender or you're not)... Looks like another liberal ashamed to call himself what he is. With those views on life, I don't blame you, though.

"Deal with the issues at hand"

Ok, stock market set a record, oil prices are down, Saddam Hussein is about to be convicted, an appeals court has ruled that terrorist surveillance can continue, unemployment is at 4.7 percent, the U.S. economy grew at 4.2% in the first half of 2006 and created jobs for the 36th straight month, we haven't had a terrorist attack inside the U.S. in 5 years, average income is up, Fed chairman has called for reform in entitlements.

What else shall we discuss?

I'm a republican. The timing of this doesn't bother me becasue we would do the same. Worrying about why the Democrats have not said anything about him being gay shouldn't need be. The GOP stance stance on homosexuality is anti. We somewhat try to preach morals but Foley has made us a total embarassment which we have room to defend. The fact that GOP leaders knew this should be the question we should be asking. The GOP, sadly, would have kept this hidden for all of eternity if possible. Just my two cents.

It amazes me that when confronted with wrong doing in your ranks, your only defense is past descretions by Democrats. How lame! I am an independent, I have voted for both parties. I vote the man, not the party. The republicans had every chance to lauch this earlier and circumvent it. They chose not to only because of upcoming elections and you know it. You have to be a total idiot; i.e. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly to follow a particular party regardless of who is running. The stones being thrown by drug addicted Rush, sex offender O'Reilly and that little pansy Hannity make me sick. On a side note: I had a boy in Iraq and I don't agree with the war. If someone would say to my face that I would "cut and run", they would be eating every tooth in their mouth. This he said, she said bullshit needs to stop. Deal with the issues at hand, all else is just the past, quit justifying and find solutions. By the way, every law that Foley helped pass to stomp the Constitutional rights of every ex-sex offender who have paid their dues, should be overturned.
Thanks, Matt

Ali, the age of consent in FL is 18, not 16. It's only 16 if the other participant is 23 years old or younger.

You are being way too forgiving of the Repub. leadership, and I say this as a committed, conservative activist Republican. Hastert et al may not have seen the IMs, but they certainly have known about the emails. They kept the House Democrat on the team responsible for the Page program out of the loop. And, they now claim that they did not pursue Foley because the parents of the Louisiana page wanted their child kept out of it. This, despite the fact that Hastert et al are responsible for the protection of ALL PAGES!

Hastert must go. Republicans must clean their own house, period. The loss of an election does not trump our values.

To Old Soldier:

The age of consent is 16 in D.C. and Florida.

The issue is Federal since it involved the internet.

It's also obvious that the media doesn't know the meaning of pedophile...

The focus of pedophilia is sexual activity with a child. Many courts interpret this reference to age to mean children under the age of 18. Most mental health professionals, however, confine the definition of pedophilia to sexual activity with prepubescent children, who are generally age 13 or younger. The term ephebophilia, derived from the Greek word for "youth," is sometimes used to describe sexual interest in young people in the first stages of puberty.

FBI Should Investigate Brian Ross

Seriously. We're going to see this stuff trickle out until the election, because that's the Democrat's plan. Just released, if you haven't already heard, are more private messages:

I got sick to my stomach when I learned this sick SOB was chairing the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus. Talk about fox guarding the hen house!

It made me even sicker to my stomach to hear another politician going in to rehab because of "an addiction", instead of facing up and taking responsibility for their actions. They are no better than the rest of us yet some think just because they are an elected official they should get special treatment. BULLSHIT! I say it is time to STOP this madness and make them pay just like Joe Q. Public has to pay!

Maybe Chris Hanson with Dateline NBC needs to conduct one of his undercover on-line sexual predator stings and see how many of our illustrious politicians he can catch! Throw out a wide net, make it country wide, and let's see what he can haul in!
