TR, I agree that the federal government is a good lot larger than it would like the public to know. But it's not like that kind of false accounting started with Clinton, nor did it end with Bush Junior.

But you do agree that Reagan, BS and BJ expanded federal government more than Clinton?

endorendil, your claim about Clinton is misleading. The Clinton administration played games with the numbers by not counting the many thousands of contractors, grantees, and state and local governments that delivered services on behalf of the federal government. And he padded the "reduction" with the shrinking numbers in the military.

TR, I didn't say anything about Pelosi, or the veracity of Newt's little platform.

And if you look at the size of federal government, you'll find it increased with Reagan, BS and BJ, but not under Clinton. Republicans love to talk about reducing the government, but they always end up enlarging it.

but if you think it would get smaller under Democrat control, you’re smoking crack.

I disagree, Jason. It would definitely get smaller...the defense budget, anyway!

"Hm, sounds like all Newt has is scare tactics and reactionary tripe. Not very inspirational. Not even very interesting."

I like how you acknowledge that Nancy Pelosi's voting record is scary.

"Remind me what laws Republicans will actually pass when the get to power? Oh, never mind, they’ve already had 6 years in power. What are they going to do? Further increase the size of government?"

I agree that the federal gubmint has gotten too big under Republican control, but if you think it would get smaller under Democrat control, you're smoking crack.
