TR, Naperville is so Republican that there wasn't a Democrat running for ANY position in the town this year. It was Republican versus write-in. So much for democracy... If your friend was the Democrat party chair in Naperville, he must have been a glutton for punishment.

Ahhh, Naperville. That explains so much. :) A good friend of mine was the <strike>pinko</strike> Democrat party chair in Naperville until recently.

As another former Ohioan (only physically as my heart will always be there) living in Missouri pronounced miz-er-ry, I know about all the voter fraud particularly in St. Louis. Remember keeping the polls open two hours longer than the law allows; this was fraud as it broke the law. Also many non-registered voters voting. If people can come up with ID for food stamps, check cashing, etc. they can come up with a free ID for voting. The Dems just don't want to lose all the illegitimate votes from "females", old folks, and people of color. #2 I still read the Blade and its peach section.

Once the ballot - legal or not - makes it into the system, then it gets counted.

In Washington State in 2004, the governorship was decided by 133 votes. There were an acknowledged 1700+ illegal votes cast, but because the ballot is secret, and those ballots were in the system, there was absolutely no practical way to prove how they were voted, so they were
left in the system. There were several hundred more ballots allegedly illegally cast, but they had similar problems, once they were in the system. (see King County, Washington)

For those that want to cheat, the goal will be to find ways to get illegal ballots into that system.

Any checks and balances that go towards guaranteeing that a cast ballot is legal, that gets in the way of cheating system must be overturned.

In most jurisdictions, you must be an American citizen, but laws requiring proof are attacked or nonexistent.

You must be a resident, but in some jurisdictions, clear laws defining residency are turned on their head allowing almost anyone from anywhere to vote.

You must be alive to vote. Not a problem in some jurisdictions.

Now, in Washington, there is a move to go to all mail ballots. My county just started it. In this mode, you don't have to show ID each time you vote. You nopw need to trust that someone can correctly compare your signature with one on file - and that your signature doesn't change much over time.

Hmmm. Stamps cost more than FREE (free photo ID), I wonder if, by definition, that can now be considered a "poll tax" (in King County, the upcoming ballot is heavier, so it will cost 63 cents to mail instead of the usual 39 cents.).

endorendil,
Considering your IP address is in Europe, I'm curious about your interest in American politics.

It's even more worriesome that Democrats reject common sense solutions to protect the integrity of the system because it will hamper their ability to cheat. I'll refer you to 1960 and 2000.

It's worrisome that both sides always claim vote fraud, no matter what the outcome is. Is it impossible for Americans to accept that elections aren't always going to go their way?

Funny how all those Seniors and women and disabled all have ID's to cash their checks at the bank. But Democrats care less about voting security than they do about the financial security of these folks.

American Center for Voting Rights has a great state by state report on vote fraud problems:

http://www.ac4vr.com/reports/072005/default.html

As a former Ohioan, I was bemused by the story of guy in small town Defiance Ohio who was paid by the NAACP voter project with crack cocaine to register voters. Apparently the guy used the product as he made 130 fraudulent registrations, all to his home address including names like Mary Poppins, Jeffrey Dahmer, Janet Jackson, Chad Staton, George Foreman, Brett Favre, Michael Jordan, and Dick Tracy.
