[...] Texas Rainmaker nails all the things I wanted to expound on, though: Another fine example of liberals trying to adopt catch-phrases in the completely wrong context. You see, when conservatives said liberals were rooting against the country, it was when liberals were actually rooting against and slandering American troops, denying their right to vote, or admitting that good news for America in a war was bad news for their party… [...]

I didn’t realise that the Democrats have been establishing the strategy in Iraq.

They haven't been. The one they advocate, i.e. cut-and-run, is the one that the soldiers reject. Yeah, your bad.

Hmmm, chose between the guys who pay lip service to your importance and put you in a war without the resources (such as, say, protective gear) or the strategy to win it, or between the guys who are not willing to let you die to cover their own mistakes.

We have a strategy. You just disagree with it. And your "not the right protective gear" lie has been debunked on numerous occasions, here and elsewhere. I'd give you links, but judging by your insistence to cling to the Army Times as a mouthpiece for official Army positions, I'm guessing you would ignore them, too.

Plus, if you think that Dems want the soldiers out of Iraq because they "don't want the soldiers to die for mistakes", you're a bigger boob than I thought. The Dems hate the soldiers, and have done so since the 1960's. Michael Barone nails you guys on your reflexive disdain for the military.

Sorry, bub, but we're not going to let you run from your pathetic anti-troop sentiment. By you saying that the soldiers SHOULD vote for the party that hates them (that would be the Democrats), you are echoing Kerry's sentiments that the soldiers are idiots. Well done.

CL, I didn't realise that the Democrats have been establishing the strategy in Iraq. My bad. All that talk of Bush being the Decider must have confused me.

I think soldiers might vote against the party that establishes a losing strategy...

Agreed. That's why they always vote against the Democrats.

Republicans pay lip service to the military.

And Dems have a pitiful track record with the military. So the soldiers can either vote for the party that "pays lip service" to them, or the party that hates their stinking guts. Decisions, decisions...

CL, it's funny you always need to insult when you post. I think soldiers might vote against the party that establishes a losing strategy and insists on sticking with it, no matter what the cost is to the soldiers. As the Army Times said "His strategy has failed, and his ability to lead is compromised. And although the blame for our failures in Iraq rests with the secretary, it will be the troops who bear its brunt."

Republicans pay lip service to the military. Very willing to honour them in words, not so willing to pay them appropriately, offer them the superior healthcare they are entitled to or the leadership they deserve.
