I doubt he'd want to be forced into executing any policy that was negative to Israel either(you just know some of that is coming down the pike from a dem house/senate in the form of military aid cutbacks). In the senate he can work against things detrimental to Israel and not be a lightning rod for the arab world to rail against. Look at the larger picture and it becomes obvious why Bush didn't do it and why Joe wouldn't accept it even if it were offered. Why didn’t Bush nominate Lieberman?
