(video) Rumsfeld is Out, Former CIA Director Robert Gates as Replacement

The Senate must still confirm him but I imagine that they will take no time in replacing Donald Rumsfeld. Keep in mind that Gates was the Deputy Director of the CIA during the Iran Contra affair.

[...] Rummy is resigning. Texas Rainmaker points out that we’re unlikely to see John Bolton renominated either. There goes two people who have done their jobs extremely well by any measure except public (meaning liberal) opinion. I’m sure they won’t be the only ones resigning, especially considering how much the Democrats are hankering for impeachment of any and all people associated with the Bush administration. The control Democrats have of congress is actually narrow enough that I think it could be a good thing for U.S. politics, despite their lack of almost any positive agenda. Republicans certainly deserve to take a walk in the park, although probably not the wilderness. [...]
