[...] Of course, Rangel made this comment to bolster support for his legislation to reinstate the draft (remember, the draft Democrats threatened would result from a Bush re-election), but his comment instead bolsters the fact that Democrats just think poorly of our brave men and women in uniform. They see them as poor, ignorant children being manipulated by a scheming system. Nevermind such a stereotype has been thoroughly debunked, it goes to show how patronizing Democrats are to the military. [...]

Rangel to reinstate draft?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the left oppose the draft during the Vietnam era? Considering that the left refers to Iraq as "Bush's Vietnam", I find it curious that they would now support something they once opposed so vehemently.

More of ol' Charlie's demagoguery. What Heilprin forgot to metion is that Rangel's draft bill only received about 4 votes this year. And his was not one of them. Had nothing to do with a Republican led house. Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors.

"Vice presidential candidate John Edwards promised a West Virginia mother on Wednesday that if the Democratic ticket is elected in November the military draft would not be revived."

Well, there you have it... Kerry/Edwards was not elected, so this is delayed Democratic retribution!

The phrase, "elections have consequences" takes on a whole new meaning now, doesn't it? The recent examples of the "Democratic leadership" should make a whole lot of folks wonder just what the heck they did on Nov 7th.
