As if you needed further proof that Democrats can’t be trusted…
What they say:
Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada both said they would work with President Bush in a bipartisan manner, and they made the same commitment with respect to congressional Republicans.
What they do:
Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.
…instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.
Their true colors are beginning to shine… of course, if you’ve read this blog long enough, this doesn’t come as any surprise to you.

Jason, I always wondered why the Republicans never understood that they could have done that as well. They could have had a balanced budget, a stop of illegal immmigration, and other things that everyone who voted for them wanted. But instead, it was status quo so the voters fired them. Unfortunately, voters have short term memory so we are going to be stuck with a lot of bad laws.
For instance, raising the minimum wage. If anyone thinks an extra dollar or two is going to make a world of difference they don’t undestand economics very well. If you are supporting a family on $5 or $7 you are still going to have a hard time doing so. This is and has always been a political ploy on the Democrats part.
And while we are waiting on Bush’s Iraq plan, I am still waiting on a real plan from the Democrats (besides “He lied, they died” or “Our troops home NOW”)
