Remember this?

Forget the minimum wage. Or outsourcing jobs overseas. The labor issue most on the minds of members of Congress yesterday was their own: They will have to work five days a week starting in January.

The horror.

But never fear. Democrats always keep the promises they intend to keep.

And this wasn’t one of ‘em

MONDAY, JANUARY 8, 2007

The House is not in session.

Now, back to what the Majority was saying a month ago:

With the new calendar, the Democrats are trying to project a businesslike image when they take control of Congress in January.

Hoyer and other Democratic leaders say they are trying to repair the image of Congress, which was so anemic this year it could not meet a basic duty: to approve spending bills that fund government.

They’re hoping you’ll have forgotten all those campaign promises by now.

I haven’t. I just hope they keep their promise to raise taxes as well as they kept their promise to work 5 days a week.
