This was an outrageous action from Janet Reno and the Clinton administration. I will not excuse it, but I will point out that the replacements for these 93 prosecutors could not appointed by the White House for indefinite terms without Senate approval as they can now, thanks to a small provision that was slipped into the PATRIOT Act very quietly. That this type of appointment is allowed is also disgusting. I am glad it appears that both the Democratic congress and the Bush White House desire to reform this issue.

So, this situation is slightly different. But I do agree w/ you for once, this was absolutely outrageous. There is no excuse for either of these mass firings under the Clinton and Bush administrations.
