Thirteen years after her first effort at improving the nation’s health care was abandoned, Hillary Rodham Clinton offered a new approach that would require every American to have health insurance with federal assistance to help defray the cost.
[...] First, Democrat John Edwards proposed mandatory health monitoring as part of a government-run healthcare plan he’d advocate for as President. And that’s why it’s so important … that what we do instead is, as part of the universal healthcare system, we don’t just cover preventative care, we mandate preventative care. In other words, if you’re in this universal healthcare system, you have to go for regular, periodic checkups, you have to be monitored…” [...]

DemonCrats are hypocrites, plain and simple. This is just another example.
Today is Sunday, the "Lord's" day. I'm supposed to be loving and kind. But liberals make my blood pressure soar. They're that stupid and that frustrating. I admit Republicans aren't perfect. But this "healthcare" idea of Edwards' is just another joke. Another BAD joke. Another reason to keep the liberals OUT of the White House in '08.

Why is every time the Dems come forward with their version of great health care, it always involves punitive actions alongside the proposed healing?

So I guess the other shoe that has yet to drop is what Edwards' proposal would outline as repercussions for those who chose not to go to the Doctors.<a>"> Jail? Fines? A stern talking to about personal responsibility?</a>

My question would be: Under this Socialist Heath Plan, are Doctor's paid a standard amount no matter what they treat or how many they treat, or are they paid based on the number/type of illness you have?

If it's the former, where's the incentive to heal (outside of the hippocratic oath)? Just give them pepto and send them home. If they come back, so what? You get paid whether they come back or not.

If it's the latter, everyone's going to suddenly be diagnosed with the plague, in order to cash in at maximum.

And speaking of the hippocratic oath....

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:

To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.

What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.

Where in there are there mentions of limits to drugs and medicines based on your 'standard allotment'? And I think I noticed a "no abortive remedy" claus in there too. Kind of conflicts don't you think?

But, enough doctors have thrown it out the window, maybe there are enough to support the socialist view. Hope they enjoy the pay cut.

[...] Posted by crushliberalism on September 6th, 2007 Following up my prior post about the Breck Girl’s Orwellian plan to force people to see a government doctor every so often, I give you this frightening nugget from the Silkster (hat tip to Texas Rainmaker): It’s funny how Democrats will claim President Bush is trashing the Constitution and trampling civil liberties when they talk about a program to monitor communications with suspected terrorists… then they turn around and not only endorse government monitoring of American citizens, but call for such monitoring to be mandated. Listen carefully to what John Edwards is proposing: [video clip here] “I think one of the reasons that young people have these kind of results from cancer is, unlike you Lance, they don’t go to the doctor very often, they don’t ride through their pain. Basically what they do is, they either don’t have healthcare coverage or they don’t believe they need to go to the doctor because they feel healthy, they’re young, they see no reason to go to the doctor. And the result is, whenever they have some kind of symptom, they put it off and they put it off. They’re much more likely to do that than a 54 year old like me. And the result is, by the time they get to the doctor, they have their diseases advanced to the stage it’s hard to treat. And that’s why it’s so important … that what we do instead is, as part of the universal healthcare system, we don’t just cover preventative care, we mandate preventative care. In other words, if you’re in this universal healthcare system, you have to go for regular, periodic checkups, you have to be monitored…” [...]
