Lawsuits Instead of Capitalism
October 3rd, 2007 8:15 am

A federal judge has certified a class action lawsuit against Target Corporation accusing the retailer of not designing their online store to accommodate the blind population. They claim discrimination.

“This is a tremendous step forward for blind people throughout the country who for too long have been denied equal access to the Internet economy,” Marc Maurer, president of the National Federation for the Blind, said in a statement.

“All e-commerce businesses should take note of this decision and immediately take steps to open their doors to the blind,” Maurer said.

That’ll teach ‘em. A company is allegedly preventing an entire segment of the population from spending money on their products, so we’ll file a lawsuit to force them to earn more revenue… while giving them free advertising during the process.

This is what’s wrong with our society today. Instead of refusing to patronize the store and hit them where it hurts by reducing profits (the basics of capitalism), some lawyers have convinced the allegedly aggrieved group to file a lawsuit that will undoubtedly help each lawyer make his or her Gulfstream IV payments.
