You can usually tell just how much Democrats are actually to blame for something… by how much blame the New York Times casts on President Bush.

The White House on Sunday issued a blistering 500-word response to a scathing 5,000-word article on the front page of Sunday’s New York Times that says President Bush and his style and philosophy of governing played a direct role in the mortgage meltdown that’s crippling the nation’s economy.

The response accused the nation’s largest Sunday paper of “gross negligence.”

The Times’ ‘reporting’ in this story amounted to finding selected quotes to support a story the reporters fully intended to write from the onset, while disregarding anything that didn’t fit their point of view,” White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said in an e-mailed statement.

Of course, we already know who is really to blame. But that story wouldn’t fit the agenda of the liberals at the New York Times.

And they wonder why their stock has lost over 70% of its value. (It’s ironic that when I went to get the link to their stock page, their current stock price was $6.66)

Dana Perino summed it up best:

“Most people can accept that a news story recounting recent events will be reliant on ‘20-20 hindsight’. Today’s front-page New York Times story relies on hindsight with blinders on and one eye closed.

We shouldn’t be surprised, it’s their standard approach to “journalism”.

Snow… in Houston, Texas!

I guess it makes sense… Barack Obama gets elected and hell begins freezing over.

UPDATE: Welcome to Texas, if you don’t like the weather, stick around a few minutes. We’ll be going from snow last night to a high of near 60 today. Guess this guy won’t last long:

Mr. Obama’s Neighborhood
December 9th, 2008 4:08 pm

The Obama circle of friends is having a bad day…

First, his buddy Blagojevich gets frog marched out of bed by the feds….

Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents on federal corruption charges alleging that they and others are engaging in ongoing criminal activity: conspiring to obtain personal financial benefits for Blagojevich by leveraging his sole authority to appoint a United States Senator; threatening to withhold substantial state assistance to the Tribune Company in connection with the sale of Wrigley Field to induce the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members sharply critical of Blagojevich; and to obtain campaign contributions in exchange for official actions – both historically and now in a push before a new state ethics law takes effect January 1, 2009.

…and now property he bought from his convicted buddy Tony Rezko is the subject of a grand jury subpoena:

A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.

According to the complaint, Mr. Connor reviewed the appraisal of the Rezko property by another firm, Adams Appraisal, which had set the value at $625,000. Mr. Connor’s complaint said that he told his bosses in a report that the property had been overvalued by at least $125,000 and that a “reasonable and fair evaluation” should have been no greater than $500,000.

Later, the complaint states, Mr. Connor observed that his lower appraisal was not in the Rezko file and that he notified his supervisors that it had been replaced. He said, according to the complaint, the new file had been reviewed by the FBI and “if the FBI were to ask me about such matters, I would tell them the truth. I never rescinded my original findings.”

Critics of Mr. Obama’s dealings with Rezko charge that the senator may have gotten a deal on his property purchase, noting that Mrs. Rezko paid the full asking price for her property on an adjacent lot. Both of which were sold by a single seller. Mr. Obama bought his house for $1.65 million - $300,000 below the asking price.

I’m sure glad we decided to bring the old school corrupt Chicago politics to Washington, D.C. so that everyone in America could benefit.

Which part is hope and which is change, again?

How Did Obama Get Elected?
November 18th, 2008 8:10 am

Because in a free country, even idiots get to vote.

And you think media bias doesn’t matter? Think again.

Zogby Poll of 521 Obama Voters (MOE +/- 4.4 points)

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet…..

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we “gave” one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

It’s funny when it’s on the Tonight Show… not so much when it puts a Socialist with zero experience in the White House.

Ayers on Obama: We are Family Friends
November 14th, 2008 11:10 pm

Sarah Palin took a public beating in the MSM because she mentioned that Barack Obama was “palling around with terrorists”, while Barack Obama’s story on his relationship with Bil Ayers kept changing. Now, the unrepentant terrorist confirms Palin was right and Obama was lying.

In a new afterword to his 2001 book, Bill Ayers, former leader of the 1960s radical group Weather Underground, describes President-elect Barack Obama as a “family friend” and denies he wished his group had set off more bombs in the 1960s.

“We had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign,” he writes.

On the business side, he worked with convict Tony Rezko. On the spiritual side, his mentor was America-hating racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright. And his family friend is a guy who led a group that bombed various locations in the U.S., killing innocent Americans.

It’s nice to know such a circle of influence exists around the next resident of the White House.

Looking for anything positive I can anticipate from life in the Obamanation.

It appears that with the election of Barack Hussein Obama, the Democrats have done what George Bush and the Republicans couldn’t do… solved the immigration issue.

Life under Obama/Pelosi/Reid control looks so undesirable that not only will illegal immigrants stop coming to the U.S., but those already here may finally return home seeking opportunity and freedom from government oppression.

Viva LoBama.

A Series of Unfortunate Coincidences
November 7th, 2008 9:00 am

Most folks are attributing Barack Obama’s win to the mortgage scandal that led to the economic crisis. Until Lehman Brothers collapsed in mid-September, John McCain was ahead in the polls. But the Democrat-led scandal and the resulting, collective blame wrongly thrown towards the Bush administration and Republicans in general ushered in an environment that fit perfectly into Senator Government’s “hope ‘n change” mantra.

But in hindsight, given that so many people who had incentive to see Obama win were instrumental in allowing or causing the economic crisis to happen in the first place, one has to wonder if this preventable economic crisis was part of a broader campaign to elect the most liberal, most inexperienced candidate with ties to radical 1960s anti-establishment players.

It might’ve seemed like a ridiculous question until you add up all the pieces…

Aside from the Democrats who controlled the Banking and Finance committees in Congress (and those who illegally got sweetheart loans), who was part of Obama’s political inner circle? James A. Johnson and Franklin D. Raines, former chief executives of Fannie Mae.

And now, Obama has chosen as his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago political machine insider who sat on the Board of Freddie Mac while the mortgage scandal was brewing.

President-elect Barack Obama’s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot “red flags,” according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

The Board upon which Emanuel sat was accused by the regulator, Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), with “having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.”

So we have the biggest economic crisis in our country since the Great Depression and it turns out to be the single biggest factor in the election and the folks who made it and let it happen all have ties to the winning candidate.

Is this part of the Hope or part of the Change?

To put things in perspective, when President Bush was faced with the issue of corporate scandals that involved acquaintances, he went after them and put them away. Barack Obama goes after them… and offers them jobs.

From Iowahawk:

Although I have not always been the most outspoken advocate of President-Elect Barack Obama, today I would like to congratulate him and add my voice to the millions of fellow citizens who are celebrating his historic and frightening election victory. I don’t care whether you are a conservative or a liberal — when you saw this inspiring young African-American rise to our nation’s highest office I hope you felt the same sense of patriotic pride that I experienced, no matter how hard you were hyperventilating with deep existential dread.

Yes, I know there are probably other African-Americans much better qualified and prepared for the presidency. Much, much better qualified. Hundreds, easily, if not thousands, and without any troubling ties to radical lunatics and Chicago mobsters. Gary Coleman comes to mind. But let’s not let that distract us from the fact that Mr. Obama’s election represents a profound, positive milestone in our country’s struggle to overcome its long legacy of racial divisions and bigotry. It reminds us of how far we’ve come, and it’s something everyone in our nation should celebrate in whatever little time we now have left.

Less than fifty years ago, African-Americans were barred from public universities, restaurants, and even drinking fountains in many parts of the country. On Tuesday we came together and transcended that shameful legacy, electing an African-American to the country’s top job — which, in fact, appears to be his first actual job. Certainly, it doesn’t mean that racism has disappeared in America, but it is an undeniable mark of progress that a majority of voters no longer consider skin color nor a dangerously gullible naivete as a barrier to the presidency.

It’s also heartening to realize that as president Mr. Obama will soon be working hand-in-hand with a former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard like Senator Robert Byrd to craft the incoherent and destructive programs that will plunge the American economy into a nightmare of full-blown sustained depression. As Vice President-Elect Joe Biden has repeatedly warned, there will be difficult times ahead and the programs will not always be popular, or even sane. But as we look out over the wreckage of bankrupt coal companies, nationalized banks, and hyperinflation, we can always look back with sustained pride on the great National Reconciliation of 2008. Call me an optimist, but I like to think when America’s breadlines erupt into riots it will be because of our shared starvation, not the differences in our color.

It’s obvious that this newfound pride is not confined to Americans alone. All across the world, Mr. Obama’s election has helped mend America’s tattered image as a racist, violent cowboy, willing to retaliate with bombs at the slightest provocation. The huge outpouring of international support following the election shows that America can still win new friendships while rebuilding its old ones, and provides Mr. Obama with unprecedented diplomatic leverage over our remaining enemies. When Russian tanks start pouring into eastern Europe and Iranian missiles begin raining down on Jerusalem, their leaders will know they will be facing a man who not only conquered America’s racial divide but the hearts of the entire Cannes film community. And those Al Qaeda terrorists plotting a dirty nuke or chemical attack on San Francisco face a stark new reality: while they may no longer need to worry about US Marines, they are looking down the barrel of a strongly worded diplomatic condemnation by a Europe fully united in their deep sympathy for surviving Americans.

So for now, let’s put politics aside and celebrate this historic milestone. In his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial 45 years ago, Dr. King said “I have a dream that one day my children will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Let us now take pride that Tuesday we Americans proved that neither thing matters anymore.

Apparently the Obama campaign is implementing his policies on Americans before he even takes the oath of office.

Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.

Perhaps the campaign thought there were other people more deserving of the money.

Eventually people did start getting paid, but some said they were missing hours and told to fill in paperwork making their claim and that eventually they would get a check in the mail.

“Still that’s not right. I’m disappointed. I’m glad for the president, but I’m disappointed in this system,” said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker.

It should have been $480. It’s $230,” said Imani Sankofa.

Maybe when Obama said he would only raise taxes on those making over $250, he literally meant $250. Go home and wait for your free healthcare.

“They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90,” said Charles Martin.

“I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned,” said Randall Waldon.

Yeah, the socialist candidate was all fun and exciting until it’s your hard-earned money he’s screwing with.

Some people weren’t satisfied with filling out a claim form for money they felt was still due to them.

“They say that they gonna call you or they going to mail it to you, but I don’t know. We’ll see what happens,” said Antron Grose.

Talking about they’ll mail it to us. I ain’t worried about that, man. They’re not going to mail nothin’,” said Martin.

Stop being so selfish and unpatriotic.
