Congratulations, President Obama
November 4th, 2008 10:36 pm

Disappointed as I may be, I recognize the historical significance of this moment. Though I oppose him on almost every political, philosophical and ideological level, it is with humility and humbleness that I offer congratulations to my new President-elect, Barack Hussein Obama.

And Senator John McCain was gracious, as usual, in his concession.

  1. Well, he sure is not nor will ever be any President to me. I cannot align myself with a Marxist lying slimy bastard so I think your blurb sucks. Are you kidding??

  2. Not saying I’m thrilled with the idea. But our great country has a process, and he is the victor. As a great man often reminds us to do, let’s put Country First and accept the results. How he governs is up to him. How we react is up to us. We are all Americans. And in America, all things are possible. Let’s give him a chance now.

  3. Hey Rainmaker,

Did you ever find yourself (as I did) shocked that you were rooting for John McCain? Throughout the primaries, I kept saying to myself, please not him. And now….

As for Mr. Obama, I’m only hoping that his history of holding to extremist ideologies is tempered by the greed of those whose bank accounts he may affect. Here’s an article to consider: http://mises.org/story/3170

  4. vincort,
Sure, as I think a lot of conservatives did. McCain wasn’t the poster boy for the conservative movement so it was hard to get too passionate about him. I think more people on the Right voted “against Obama” as opposed to “for McCain”. When that dynamic is in play, it rarely works (see 2004 for another example).

But this is a moment conservatives need to seize upon and regroup and reorganize (like liberals did since 2000). Our message still resonates with more people in this country than not, but we have to have the right message bearer.
