Now that the Obama administration is playing kabuki theater with Iran, it seems like the appropriate time to revive a post I made back on January 13, 2006 questioning the credibility of Democrats on dealing with a nuclear ambitious, Islamic tyrant playing games with the United Nations. Take note of the very last line of the post….

Again we have a nuclear ambitious, Islamic tyrant playing games with the United Nations. And the Democrats are acting the same way they did towards Iraq prior to the war.

Senator John Kerry (D-MA)

“Iran has made a dangerous and silly decision of confronting not just the U.S. government but the entire international community.”

Tom Lantos (D-CA)

“Iran is hell-bent on developing nuclear weapons”

“European governments should make clear to Iran that there can’t be business as usual as long as Ahmadinejad, or others who espouse his radical views, hold high office … the U.S. needs to press for stiff multilateral sanctions aimed at stopping Iran’s nuclear program … there still are measures the U.S. can take alone to increase pressure on Tehran…”

“Iran has reportedly been working to develop [WMDs]. A nuclear-armed Iran is an unacceptable risk to us and our allies… We must show determined leadership to … prevent the development of nuclear weapons in places like Iran.”

But remember, we were hearing this sort of talk from Democrats with respect to Iraq long before the war.

John Kerry (Jan. 23, 2003)

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real…”

Bill Clinton (Feb. 4, 1998)

“One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”

Madelaine Albright (Feb. 1, 1998)

“We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction.”

Sandy Bergler (Feb. 18, 1998)

“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”

Nancy Pelosi (Dec. 16, 1998)

“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”

Ted Kennedy (Sept. 27, 2002)

“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”

So we’re justified in asking whether they’re serious today. Afterall, it is reasonable to assume that should the situation with Iran escalate, through the lack of cooperation of Iran itself (like it did with Iraq), Democrats will march hand-in-hand with the anti-war protestors again trying to score cheap political points against Bush… of course, not until after voting to authorize military action, to be sure.

But this is why all this political gamesmanship on Iraq creates a serious problem for our country. The Democrats have now delivered an ambigious message to the world. First, we’ll talk tough and alert the world to the dangers of Iran, then we’ll march around the world calling our President a “liar“, “thug“, “criminal“, “terrorist” and more claiming he made the whole thing up to justify the war.

So the first half of the game with Iran is playing out the same way it did with Iraq. Why should we expect a second half to be any different?

Democrats can’t expect to be taken serious on the subject anymore. And that puts America in a dangerous position if they ever regain power.

Scott Brown vs. ObamaCare
January 12th, 2010 9:02 pm

One man potentially stands as the last line of defense against a disastrous monstrosity of legislation that threatens the United States. That man is Scott Brown. On January 19th, voters in Massachusetts will go to the polls in a special election to fill the Massachusetts Class I Senate seat (formerly held by Ted Kennedy), for the remainder of the term ending January 3, 2013. The election has become a referendum of sorts on the healthcare fiasco currently being crafted through backroom deals and shady bribery among the Democrat-controlled Congress. If Republican Scott Brown can pull off an upset in the blue state, he would become the 41st Republican in the Senate, ending the Democrat super majority.

Brown’s campaign had a goal of raising $500,000 today. So far, he’s raised $1.3 million and counting. Click here to raise that total.

By the way, here’s Brown during a recent debate reminding people just whose seat is up for grabs in this election.

And so it begins.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office sent an email to reporters at around 2:30 a.m. today, just hours after his death, calling for the passage of health care overhaul. “Ted Kennedy’s dream of quality health care for all Americans will be made real this year because of his leadership and his inspiration,” the statement read.

Democrats are already tap-dancing on his grave, exploiting his death as an opportunity to pimp their healthcare legislation. It’s about as surprising as Michael Moore ordering dessert. Prepare yourself, because you’re about to experience the joys of combining an adoring media who gave us a weeklong pukefest of coverage for a moonwalking pedophile with the audacity of shameless liberal politics that turned Paul Wellstone’s memorial into Lollapalooza.

And Senator Byrd is calling for the healthcare legislation to be named for Kennedy

In his honor and as a tribute to his commitment to his ideals, let us stop the shouting and name calling and have a civilized debate on health care reform which I hope, when legislation has been signed into law, will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American.

As Bob says, “So the Dems want to change the current bill to the Ted Kennedy Memorial Bill. Does that mean they are going to do what he did with Mary Jo Kopechne… Do nothing and watch it die??”

Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

Ted Kennedy, Dead at 77
August 25th, 2009 11:53 pm

CNN is reporting that Senator Ted Kennedy has died.

I plan on offering him as much sympathy and respect in his passing… as he offered Mary Jo Kopechne in hers.

RFK, Jr. and some other dimwitted liberal published a post on Huffington Post a few days ago entitled, “Unearthed: News of the Week the Mainstream Media Forgot to Report“. And they provide a host of links to the stories that the MSM is apparently trying to hide from the public. So from where did these journalistic detectives “unearth” the stories?

CNN, Washintgon Post, and the New York Times, of course.

Caution: Liberal genius at work.

Vodka In My Veins

A publishing company has reportedly offered Ted Kennedy $8 million for his memoirs… assuming he can remember those things that occured between drunken binges.

Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the most prominent surviving member of the Kennedy family, has agreed to sell his memoirs for an advance of more than $8 million, people with knowledge of the negotiations say.

Rumor has it, each copy will come with a free shot glass…

Here’s a proposed cover for the new book:

Bryan wonders how many chapters will be devoted to his opposition to alternative energy solutions or his advocacy for the Soviets during the Cold War.

Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

Yesterday I did a “Caption This” post with a picture of Hillary and Obama. As I was searching through Yahoo’s news photos, I found several other pictures of Obama that looked very similar…

Democrats Are Not Pro-Choice…
January 25th, 2007 6:56 pm

…when it comes to education. (hat tip: Matt)

Education Secretary Margaret Spellings said yesterday the administration will fight tenaciously for a few key changes to its signature education law, including helping children in chronically failed public schools to attend private schools instead.

Top Democrats, such as Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, chairman of the Senate education panel, immediately balked at the school-choice provisions, while indicating agreement in other areas. Democrats’ top goal is to secure a steep funding boost for the law, and Mrs. Spellings indicated the administration will use that as a bargaining chip.

And of course, the Democrats’ standard answer to anything…

In communities with several failing schools, the administration proposal also would offer scholarships for pupils to attend private schools.

Democrats have argued that these struggling schools need more money in order to meet the law’s tough requirements.

…just throw more money at the failing school.

Will Democrats Drain the Swamp?
November 9th, 2006 3:29 am

Soon-to-be-Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said Democrats “intend to lead the most honest, the most open and the most ethical Congress in history.” Interestingly, this reminds me of another newly elected Democrat back in 1992 that promised “the most ethical Administration in the history of the Republic.”

Let’s just take a look at Pelosi’s “honest, ethical” Congress.

It includes William Jefferson (assuming he wins his December 9th runoff), the Democrat who hid $90,000 in bribery cash in his freezer at home.

It includes the soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who enjoys illegally using campaign donations, shady million dollar land deals, pushing legislation through Congress to benefit his 4 lobbyist sons, breaking campaign finance laws, and aiding clients of Jack Abramoff.

It will include Alcee Hastings, who was convicted by the U.S. House on two Articles of Impeachment: perjury and conspiracy to obtain a bribe. He’s so “honest and ethical” that it’s rumored Pelosi will get him to Chair the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

It includes Congressmen who run gay prostitution services from their Capitol Hill apartments, engage in public corruption and love to pass legislation benefitting family members and crash their cars while drinking and driving and kill others.

It includes dozens who associated with or helped Jack Abramoff and his clients.

It includes several who like to assault security personnel.

And of course, the new leader of this “honest, ethical” Congress, herself, enjoys skirting finance laws every now and then. Not to mention her fondness for providing political favors to top donors.

If Pelosi’s party is hellbent on “draining the swamp” of Congressional corruption, they better put on some lifejackets themselves.

Welcome to a new election with the same old results…

UPDATE:
The Pelosi swamp is getting murkier.

Jim has what Paul Harvey would call The Rest of the Story…

You just gotta love the hypocritical Left.

While some high-profile Hollywood elitists are busy protesting a proposed natural gas facility that would be 14 miles off the coast of Malibu, they’re busy dumping raw sewage directly on the beaches of Malibu. (hat tip: BCB)

Meanwhile, on the other coast, America’s first offshore wind farm, a clean source of energy sitting 6 miles offshore, that will provide up to 3/4 of Nantucket’s electricity is being opposed by liberal elitists because they don’t want any threat of obstructions to the view from their multi-million dollar compounds.

But hey… for everyone else, that green-living is a heckuva deal.

UPDATE:
I knew it wouldn’t be long before Al Gore made his presence known in this post.

Former Vice President Al Gore appeared in Berkeley on Monday to lend his celebrity and reputation as a crusader against global warming to a measure on California’s Nov. 7 ballot that would tax oil companies to raise $4 billion for green energy projects.

“I’m here to change peoples’ minds on the climate crisis and to support Prop 87,'’ Gore called to a group of reporters after he emerged from the “100 miles per gallon'’ Toyota Prius that brought him to a noontime rally in a sun-drenched park behind Berkeley’s City Hall.

His motorcade also included three motorcycles, two limousines and a Dodge Ram 1500 light duty truck.

Gore likened the global-warming crisis to having a sick child: No responsible parent would delay treatment once a diagnosis is rendered, he said.

But Gore’s treatment is like making the sick kid chase an ounce of antibiotic with a gallon of cyanide.
