While experts and pundits debate whether Obama, as Commander in Chief, violated Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution by ordering military action in Libya without approval of Congress, there is another law that may be in play here.

The federal government is currently operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) because a new budget has not been passed by Congress. Without an appropriations budget in place, non-essential functions of the government would normally cease, as they are not allowed by law to spend money. However, under CRs, government agencies are authorized to fund their agencies, but only at the current level until either the resolution expires, or an appropriations bill is passed.

So when Obama, as Commander in Chief, ordered the military actions in Libya, the question arises as to whether the additional $2 billion/day is a lawful expenditure, given that the federal government is operating under a CR. We know it hasn’t been specifically appropriated because Obama hasn’t bothered consulting Congress on the action in Libya at all… for approval or funding.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if the Democrats who refused to pass a budget have inadvertently put Obama in a position to violate federal law with his war in Libya?

Obama Admits Abuse of Power
March 22nd, 2011 9:25 am

Senator Barack Obama said on December 20, 2007:

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.”

And this week he unilaterally authorized military attacks on Libya, because their leader “told his people there will be no mercy.”

So it’s clear that Obama, under his own argument, has abused his powers as President…

You dopey Democrats elected this disaster… so suck it up and own the fact that maybe electing a motivational speaker to lead the free world wasn’t one of your brighter ideas.

It is the Soldier, not the minister who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the community organizer who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag… who allows the protester to burn the flag.

To those of you who serve so honorably, I send out a heartfelt thank you for doing more than your share. We are a country forever indebted to your service.

Thank you.

Obama’s finally getting around to admitting what he’s doing to, and how he feels about, this great country.

From disliking the idea that America is a dominant military superpower…

“Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower…”

…to admitting that his policies are going to insure we never return to the times of unprecedented economic growth and success.

Part of this global rebalancing is that they’re going to have to make some decisions as well about how they are approaching their domestic markets. And, you know, part of the bargain that we’re trying to strike within the G-20 framework is to say, “Look, we’ve got to take on our responsibilities in terms of improving our savings rate. You, on the other hand, have to recognize that a purely export-driven strategy of economic growth is not going to work, in that American consumers are just not going to be in the same position, and the American government is not going to be in the same position, that it’s been in over the last several years.

You wanted change… you got it.

My Friend, The Inspiration
April 19th, 2010 9:09 pm

I posted about David Rozelle, an old high school friend, before. When times seem tough or the stress is starting to get the best of me, I refer back to David’s experiences and suddenly my issues seems like nothing in comparison.

God bless our heroes.

A Hero’s Salute
July 20th, 2009 11:19 am

Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was killed last month in Afghanistan. His body was escorted from the airplane at Falcon Field in Peachtree City, GA to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. His body was accompanied by Henry County PD, Henry County Sheriff’s, McDonough PD, Hampton PD, The Patriot Guards, Rolling Thunder, and ABATE. A simple notice in local papers indicated the route to be taken and the approximate time.

Here are some other videos taken from folks standing along the funeral procession route.

…and then on June 14, 2009, flags were returned to full mast and then retired in memory of Staff Sgt. Beale and his military brothers killed in action: Maj. Kevin M. Jenrette, and Spc. Jeffrey W. Jordan…

God bless our heroes.

Remembering the Heroes…

Here’s to those brave heroes that succeeded in an impossible mission 65 years ago today and to those who follow in their footsteps now.

Thank you!

For those of you who are, or have, served our nation, I extend my deepest respect and sincerest gratitude. I dedicate this poem to my grandparents (pictured below), who served in WWII, and my uncle, who served in Vietnam.

As I stroll among the crosses, where our fallen heroes lay.
I hear the sound of a bugle, playing Taps again today.
I take a moment to say a prayer, standing with my head bowed low.
And I think of friends and family, and strangers I don’t even know.
Who’ve come from every community across our blessed land.
So we might live in freedom, they now lie beneath the sand.
I feel a sense of guilt, for my sacrifice has been small.
Compared to these great heroes, some of whom lost their all.
Soon this holiday will end, closing another Memorial Day.
But to the names upon the crosses, I have but one thing to say.
Thank you for what you’ve given, we could not ask for more.
May you rest in peace with God in heaven, for now and evermore.

Thank you for your service to our country.

Obama Finds Use for Military…
April 2nd, 2009 11:13 am

…to help him pretend he’s a rockstar.

President Obama’s European visit this week has strained Air Force heavy-airlift capabilities and obliged the military to hire more foreign contractors to help resupply U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan, according to military sources.

The large delegation traveling with the president in Europe required moving several transports, including jumbo C-5s and C-17s, from sorties ferrying supplies to Afghanistan to European bases for the presidential visit, said two military officials familiar with the issue.

But hey, it’s not like the military has better things to do…

The airlift crunch comes at a particularly difficult time, as the military is stepping up deliveries of supplies in advance of a surge of 21,000 U.S. troops.

A surge that Obama himself ordered.

One official said the problem was not only the vehicles and helicopters that were needed for presidential security, but also the unusually large number of people traveling with the president.

Every good rockstar’s got to have an entourage, right? I wonder if the Community Organizer in Chief has an aide walk behind him with a boombox blaring some theme music too.

And while you’re watching your tax dollars being pissed away on wasteful spending, here’s another item to add to the list…

The official said U.S. taxpayers are paying twice for airlift, once for Air Force jets that are not available for a war zone and again for foreign contractor aircraft that are.

It’s hard livin’ like a rockstar, beyotch.
