She’s as predictable as she is hypocritical.

Nancy Pelosi on Democrat William Jefferson’s indictment:

“…Mr. Jefferson, just as any other citizen, must be considered innocent until proven guilty…”

Nancy Pelosi on Republican Tom Delay’s indictment:

“[It’s] the latest example that Republicans in Congress are plagued by a culture of corruption at the expense of the American people.”

I can almost dismiss her hypocrisy as being simply a byproduct of partisanship - that’s predictable - but the fact she’s standing up for a man who was caught on videotape taking bribes and caught red-handed with the money in his home freezer while condemning a man indicted by a politically-motivated D.A. on trumped-up charges brings into question her judgment and character.

Why Liberals are Like Communists
April 12th, 2007 3:36 pm

Sometimes it’s just too obvious.

“You see, I have learned something about liberals. They are much like communists. They believe they have to destroy you in order to win.” As I outline in my book, the Left is effective in using the bullying tactics inherited from their comrades. Intimidation and force are their only means because they refuse to accept public debate or the free market’s ability to simply turn the dial.

And let’s not forget about the Dynamic Duo calling for Imus’ resignation. They have their own past offenses, like the anti-Semitic slur used by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, when he referred to New York City as “Hymietown” in a conversation with reporters. His apology? Asking that we charge his head, not his heart. And the most eloquent Rev. Al Sharpton, who was convicted (read: FOUND GUILTY) of libel when he very publicly accused a white assistant district attorney of raping a young black girl, which never happened. They don’t apologize…they run for president of the United States.

And for the contextual icing on the cake, where are the repercussions for Rosie O’Donnell’s hateful, idiotic accusations that President Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks? And her ignorant parody of the Chinese language? Or her comparison of conservative Christians to Islamo-fascist terrorists? Why has ABC not suspended her from The View? Why has she not been frog-marched up to some radio show to apologize to 9/11 victims/Chinese-American activists/evangelical Christians?

What the Left is doing is not a fluke – it’s a concerted strategy. And it works. So if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. That’s why I am calling on conservatives to use the available media (radio talk shows, blogs, letters to the editor) to protest and demand that Rosie O’Donnell be kicked off The View. Where are the demonstrations in front of ABC? Where are the boycott threats for The View’s advertisers, or its parent company, Disney? Who is holding Barbara Walters accountable for Rosie’s offenses? We can fight like the Left, too. If Don Imus falls to the pleas of political correctness, we’re taking Rosie O’Donnell down with him.

Here’s the contact info for ABC. Have at it.

Sekula-Gibbs It Is…
August 21st, 2006 4:17 pm

Sugarland Mayor David Wallace has dropped his bid to run as a write-in candidate for Texas District 22 (Tom Delay’s old district). I had thrown my support behind David, but the local Republican leaders decided this past weekend to endorse only one candidate (a smart move) for the write-in campaign, and it wasn’t David. While I still don’t believe all of the accusations tossed his way (even from the Right), I applaud his sacrifice for the betterment of the TX-22 constituents. It’s better to get behind the consensus choice than run on personal desire, only to let liberal Nick Lampson backdoor his way into the seat.

On a cursory review of her credentials, it appears Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is a good choice. Check out her campaign site.

Here’s her take on issues:

- Secure America ’s Borders
- Reform Immigration without Amnesty
- Protect Life and the Family
- Guard Against Restrictions to our Right to Bear Arms
- Replace Federal Income Tax with a Fair Tax, Reduce the Debt and Increase Jobs
- Preserve Ellington Field for Local and National Defense
- Support NASA and the Johnson Space Center
- Create a regional Research and Biotechnology hub
- Elliminate Frivilous Law Suits and Provide Affordable Health Insurance

Formerly known as “Tom Delay’s District”, Texas Congressional District 22 is a seat the Democrats are proudly proclaiming as their own now that “The Hammer” has stepped aside.

They’re banking on liberal Nick Lampson, who’s still bitter about losing his Congressional seat to Ted Poe. Of course, they’re kind of lost now because Lampson’s entire campaign was built around the “I’m not Tom Delay” mantra. Now, instead of relying on telling voters who he’s not, he’s got to actually tell them who he is. And it’s not a pretty site.

But Sugarland Mayor David Wallace has officially announced his write-in candidacy. I met David almost exactly a year ago at a breakfast with Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas. I’ll repeat what I said about him then:

He’s pro-life, anti-gun control, anti-same sex marriage, and pro-lower taxes. He supports Bush in the war on terrorism and is in favor of tougher border control. My kind of Republican. I think if Tom Delay ever leaves his seat in District 22, Wallace might be a good replacement.

Looks like it’s in the works now.

I urge you to check out his campaign site and help in any way you can… especially if you live in the Houston area.

Here is his stance on the issues:

As a lifelong conservative, I believe in the principles of less government, more personal freedom, fiscal responsibility and traditional family values.

As your next congressman, I will:

- Defend the Right to Life for unborn children
- Fight for lower taxes so families can keep more of what they earn
- Stop the skyrocketing deficit spending that is putting our economic future at risk
- Secure our borders and ports of entry to stop the flow of illegal aliens
- Strengthen our immigration laws to protect our way of life
- Support President Bush in the War on Terror
- Ensure our military including every soldier, sailor, marine and airman has the tools they need to be successful
- Protect traditional marriage
- Stand up for our Second Amendment freedoms
- Be an effective conservative voice for District 22 citizens

I’ve officially endorsed him. You should, too.

Back Again…
July 9th, 2006 4:27 pm

No, I’m talking talking about my return from vacation… I’m referring to the news that Tom Delay is considering running for re-election, thanks to a Democrat fight to keep his name on the ballot. I can’t think of anything sweeter than Delay winning because democrats fought to keep his name on the ballot.

On a personal note, I had the good fortune of meeting Delay two weeks ago as we both stood in the security line at the airport. I simply shook his hand and told him, “Keep up the good fight.”

Looks like he might!

I posted about this almost 3 years ago when Texas Democrats walked off the job and threw a temper tantrum because they weren’t getting their way.

Today, the United States Supreme Court affirmed the congressional map engineered by Tom Delay. With the exception of a single district in southwest Texas, the court upheld the entire map.

In the lead opinion for the court, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote, “We reject the statewide challenge to Texas’ redistricting as an unconstitutional political gerrymander and the challenge to the redistricting in the Dallas area as a violation of the Voting Rights Act.”

I’ll repeat the last line of my post from 3 years ago:

But the democrats in typical fashion have decided that they don’t like the outcome, so they’re just not going to show up for work. Just imagine if we all did that to our employers……

How typical is it that Democrats lose an election and resort to court challenges to try and overturn election results. It’s no wonder they want to pack the judicial branch with liberal activists. It’s a way to circumvent the electorate and ram their idiotic policies down our throats.

And yet they lost again. Maye this time they’ll challenge the ruling by fleeing… the country.

Delay vs Torch
June 9th, 2006 4:25 am

Compare and contrast:

2006 - Democrats are trying to prevent Tom Delay’s name from being removed from the ballot so a replacement candidate can be named… well within the election rule timeframe.

2002 - Democrats fought to remove Robert Torricelli’s name from the ballot so a replacement candidate could be named… after election rules allowed it.

To Democrats, it’s all about the letter after your name.

From the Houston Chronicle:

An appeals court today upheld a district judge’s decision to throw out two of the criminal charges pending against U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay, but the decision still may not get DeLay a speedy trial.

The Texas Third Court of Appeals upheld Senior District Judge Pat Priest’s December ruling tossing out charges against DeLay that accused him of conspiracy to violate the state election code. The charges related to how a political committee he founded spend corporate money in the 2002 elections.

The appeals court agreed with Priest’s ruling that the crime of conspiracy was not added to the Texas Election Code until 2003, a year after DeLay’s alleged crimes occurred. The opinion was written by Justices Bea Ann Smith, a Democrat, and David Puryear and Alan Waldrop, both Republicans.

I’m sure Earle doesn’t care. This case was always about politics… and in that arena, Earle was already successful.

In a move that for the immediate future will give Democrats a sense of victory, Tom Delay has announced he will not seek re-election this November.

Delay certainly understood that the campaign would be a rough one. He’s also an experienced student of the numbers and realized that for the first time in 22 years he would have a real fight on his hands. But he also realized that fight wasn’t about constituents of District 22, but rather Delay himself. There’s sure to be much speculation surrounding his decision…

But I think it just insures a Republican keeps the seat. His opponent, Nick Lampson has already been defeated down here and was only campaigning on the “Tom Delay is evil” mantra. His primary issue is gone now… and considering the only thing Democrats want to do is gain a majority in Congress so they can abuse their power by trying to impeach the President, I’d say insuring a Republican win is as important as anything Delay could do as a Representative himself.

Update: I’m hearing local rumblings that a couple of Republicans that will likely compete for Delay’s vacant seat are Harris County Judge Robert Eckels and Sugarland Mayor David Wallace. I’ve met both men and would be happy with either as Delay’s replacement.

Gateway Pundit says Delay’s move will encourage more Democrat politics of personal destruction.

Null & Void
March 14th, 2006 3:52 pm
That’s what the Third Court of Appeals declared Ronnie Earle’s subpoenas.

“The point here is Ronnie Earle is abusing his office … to have a court declare that Ronnie Earle was abusing his office, and that is in effect what the Third Court said,” [Delay lawyer] Hennessy said.

The same court has set oral arguments on the State’s Appeal (of Judge Pat Priest’s dismissal of all or part of the three politically-motivated indictments) at 1:30 PM on March 22, 2006.
